Hello esteemed friends, one former player, and fellow overseers, welcome to momentous occasion I suppose, the first back-to-back side story, the first out of(their regular)body experience these replikas have experienced, an appearance of the great revolutionary’s daughter, and the party’s first foray into the depths of nowhere itself.

Welcome, dear readers, to

EPISODE 14.10 “but you persisted”

(Written in my phone this time because haha funny I BROKE THE FUCKING “W” ON MY KEYBOARD.)

Our episode started with Bird and Eve in the sleeping ward, with Fox taped to the ceiling and Lilith still very dead, Bird and Eve then spent nearly the first hour of the session trying to get Fox off the ceiling. I’m not joking by the way, they kept making silly plans on how to get him down, and I couldn’t stop laughing. All the jokes being brought to a stop as they went to use the tape. As in video cassette fyi. At first seeing nothing. Then they end up in… a greenhouse. A VERY overgrown greenhouse but a greenhouse nonetheless. And standing in the centre of the room, staring at a large tree, was… Her. The daughter of the great revolutionary’s daughter. Seemingly caught in a moment of reflection, meanwhile, our resident disaster lesbians I mean, pragmatic duo were… ok well Eve was scared seeing the daughter of the revolutionary just… there. Bird somehow didn’t know who she was. Funny. To me I mean, anyway, the corpse of Lilith was sticking out of a tree which was what mostly had our skeleton-crew’s attention. Especially when it fucking winked at Eve. I then threw a radio at Eve, allowing the characters to directly hear the whole call, a notable departure from just being able to hear their respective players. (Eve likes Nick’s player more than her own lolololol) This was very disorienting for the characters, as you can imagine. It would be worse for the characters if I thrust heavy lore implications upon them, wouldn’t you agree? Replacing the great revolutionary’s daughter with the very dead sister of the Gestalt she was based on would lead to many potentially concerning narrative implications, no? (I must never let Eve’s player find out I did that specifically to mess with her she’d actually kill me)(/j) eventually, some people joined Eve’s “sister”.

First, the soldier, the one that had shot two of our party members in previous mind-fuck segments. Next was a doctor, an older man with a strangely unrecognisable face, although what was clear to see was that they were pleased to see our skeleton crew. Finally was a pilot, standing furthest away from our pov crew, and after. The four figures slowly turned to look at our two players. The first stared in hate. The second in apathy, the third looked happy to see them, the last was… confused, what else is new. I suppose that is one trait I can’t counteract by putting them through different loops. Also, Bird has hit a milestone! “First player to reach 1 persona and start hallucinating.” Which is quite the milestone for us to reach! Something tells me it’s one of those “Christmas miracles”.

Anyway, while Eve is remembering a part of the life of who she was built off, suddenly, the world around them goes dark. But only for a moment. Before the world lights up, and they lay witness to the vistas of hell nowhere. Here’s an exert from a message I sent Fox since they were sick and had projects to worry about so couldn’t show up.

“An endless desert of blood soaked sands, where no sound will reach you, with vast black black stone pillars darker than the vastness of space, a singular eye gazes down upon the red expanse, unblinking.”

(Also, apparently this was a highlight in my environmental descriptions according to Nick, the closest in the party to being another signalis fan. Needless to say I am still happy about that, my DMing skills have gotten very rusty so Crossfade has been a welcome challenge.)

Before getting dragged through reality and ending up….. in human bodies. Eve in… well take a guess. The body of the human she was based off, yeah. Bird was put into the body of another person in the hospital.

Now, let’s put ourselves in Eve’s shoes here, from her perspective, can you imagine how disorienting this would be, getting out in a new body, one that both is and isn’t your own, seeing people you recognise as your parents before they look at you and begin screaming things at you that I don’t even feel comfortable repeating here(or in the session, I let the players fill in the blank there.) before noticing a camera and switching on a dime to faux concern, and then cursing her out under her breath as they leave. Immediately after, they find a steamer-trunk in the hospital room providing a set of clothes for the two since the they’re just in hospital gowns, switching out for a nurse uniform(Eve) and the nation’s equivalent of like, those mock-uniforms they make JROTC kids wear sometimes? Idk I can’t think of a suitably European equivalent(Bird). And they start walking around, posing as, I shit you not, a kid that got lost on a field trip and a nurse helping them find their class group. Would you believe me if less than five minutes later they:

  1. Broke into the security armoury in this hospital
  2. found a disposable rocket launcher (before you ask, the reason this hospital armoury had a store of expendable anti-tank weapons, it’s because I thought it would be funny since they wanted to kill “Eve’s” parents and I thought it would be the funniest option)
  3. They steal it, as well as the comparatively innocuous swat gear. I say “innocuous” because at  this point the hell am I going to do.
  4. Go to the hospital roof
  5. Bird fires the rpg into “Eve’s” parents, their bodyguards and a state news crew. (7 dead, 36 injured.

Before then RUNNING TO THE NEAREST TOWN, disguising themselves among the populace a task that was easier for Bird  because all they needed to do was put on a backpack, I could not make this up if I tried, but funnily enough, this is around where we ended, dragging our players back to the sleeping ward where they started, with fox still laying face down the floor- WHO TAPED HIM TO THE FLOOR WHILE WE WERE GONE!?

PS.
Right so, this summary took too long on my end, my bad, had a lot to do over the weekend and early week. Happy holidays by the way! Just to let anyone reading know, there’s a decent chance that the next two sessions will be our last FOR THE YEAR. Everyone’s been very busy so it made sense to cut this month’s broadcast schedule in half. If I disappear for two weeks this month, you can look to this note for the reason, I’ve had a lot of fun using this system as my gateway back into DMing, and over my months of using this system I can confidently recommend this to anyone interested in both ttrpgs and signalis, even if the sessions I run typically have a tone that shifts between “undertale”and “the king in yellow”.

1000/10, thanks for making this system and thank anyone that chose to read this entire post too I suppose!

Session: NULL.

Hi fellow overseers, I have some kinda bad news.

Nobody was able to get into “the groove” this week. Everyone was just feeling a bit fucked, whether it was due to exam season (god speed Fox) or Eve’s meds wearing off. Oh yeah, Eve couldn’t make it, sorgy.

At the very least our last session of the year is projected to have a full house so expect some weird shit next week, up to and including: a very familiar child showing up. (It’s Lilith.)

Möge das wachsame Auge der großen Revolutionäre euch Sicherheit bringen.
願皇后的祝福伴你一路前行
see you all next week.

we've come a long way in the months we've been doing this, part of why I feel kinda weird about going on hiatus for the holidays. this system has truly been a blessing, helping me get back into running ttrpgs, giving myself more of a reason to get properly into voice acting/voice training, and a lot more that I won't mention for obvious reasons since ley's be honest here, these recaps typically hit four thousand characters on the low end, no reason to over-do things, I guess we'll call this the end of "season 1"? idk, we've been using the "episode" terminology for so long now. hey, at least we got past our third run! without further adue,

SESSION 15!!! the last of this year.

our party started with Eve Blair-witching in a corner because her player was late this week, Fox waking up from a concussion nap, and Bird, still Processing 14.10. yes they were in the sleeping ward. So later they move on to “we need the fucking 10mm wrench socket” leading to Bird and fox searching the entire upper medical wing, going to the one room they had completely ignored up until this point. The exam room, and with that a working computer! A WORKING computer!! Hey remember those unprofessional dms the party found? From a few sessions ago?? Yeah there was more. They get to read the other side of them. Funnily enough this was right as Eve joined the session! So she just got warped over. Am I going to clue my players into the ramifications of that? In the new year, probably. Didn’t get the time to this session though. Before suddenly blinking them into a normal(?) house. Also fox had to leave so their character is just… in the void. Here’s when we get to “Lilith but child and human” which was a very confusing for the players as you can expect, especially since it reinforced that she’s been like that the whole time. From here uh… look I’m just going to skip to the important bits. The sparknotes, if you will. Full circle I guess.

-met Lilith’s dad, he wasn’t happy this time

-the building explodes(?)

-replikas, as it turns out, aren’t typically designed for swimming.

-“what now?” Idk maybe ask that rapidly approaching Imperial submarine(affectionately referred to as “the sea humvee” because it’s essentially the same concept of vehicle, simply applied to a submersible vehicle.)

-these guys have questions- NEVER MIND THEY’RE JUST DEAD NOW. I GUESS.

-ALSO WHO PUT US ON EUROPA’S SURFACE?????

-if you listen really closely, you can hear the plot derailing.

My sincerest apologies for how late this update was, my schedule recently has been utter bullshit, especially with the holidays and all. This year has been very… interesting. Yeah, we’ll go with that.

Happy holidays to all of you, go hang out with your loved ones btw, things have been inconvenient for me lately, hopefully you’re having a more convenient time.

Möge das wachsame Auge der großen Revolutionäre euch Sicherheit bringen.

Thank you so much for the many verbose updates freelancer_incorporated! I hope everything in your life improves or at the very least stops inconveniencing you. I too have had my share of troubles lately. Regardless, Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!

session: no

We’ll be back next Thursday!
Hopefully.

hello, Fellow overseers, it is my understanding we've all had a good new years? I know I have :] it's been quite some time since I posted the updates into this thread, longer still since I had ran this campaign, luckily, I've got an update from this week's game for all of you.

welcome in, for

SESSION 16.

the session began on the surface of some random ice planet, where after Fox gets brought back from nowhere, and wandering through a blizzard for a bit, they end up in: THE ELEVATOR ROOM THEY STARTED THE CAMPAIGN IN[except this time it isn't a tetanus vector] and, after fucking with the unnecessarily complicated mineshaft Elevator control panel[who the FUUUUUCK designs an evevator door where the doors are controlled electrically with a DIAL. Those things were moving like TEETH.] also, do you remember the oppressive darkness of the elevator back then? Of course you don't, that was when the updates were all bullet points and detail was sort of an after-thought. well, it's back, mostly to hide that instead of this place being made of MEAT this time. Which isn't actually all that out of the ordinary anymore actually. But it is different here in fairness, symbolism. Also Eve's mental stability is NOT being helped by Child-Lilith BEING THERE. which is fine because she gets deleted from reality a few minutes later. anyway, you thought I was going to remix PR-A for them? Ok you know me quite will, I admit, but no. We're on the train! yes, that one, from the actual game. complete with a teenage Ariane, and THE GOLD KEY CARD!!!!! FINALLY! now it's time to put this in here and- why is there so much ammo in here. and a save station. Oh no. We're at the Mynah bossfight aren't we. we are. notable events include "Fox getting a new gun [the Anti Material Rifle, a weapon Similar to the Nitro Rifle, with the key distinction being a doubled mag capacity, the Rifle requiring a combat+speed roll to use, and an accuracy penalty because it is liable to knock the shooter prone, as demonstrated by Bird a few turns later] and using to Blow the Mynah's head SMOOTH OFF[that did not kill them.]", Eve having her worst combat rolls in a WHILE, more Bird Looney-toons moments as mentioned above, as well as probably the best BEST ROLL I HAVE EVER SEEN IN THIS CAMPAIGN TO DATE.

Fox rolled to attack with the AMR, and here is the exact string of numbers he fucking got

 6 6 5 5 3 6

yeah no, safe to say that M.N.H.R is deader than ever! and that's where we cut the session off for the night. I guess y'all should know that this year we're looking to do shorter sessions overall, depends on the day, who knows.

I'll see all of you next week! hell, maybe I'll have a distinct weapon stat-bloc for the AMR by then. it's meant to be the nation's version of the Nitro rifle[Fox had the imperial version up until now.] I'm picturing something visually similar to a PTRS-41, do with that what you will.

Möge das wachsame Auge der großen Revolutionäre euch Sicherheit bringen.
願皇后的祝福伴你一路前行

PS. it doesn't really matter, but with that little ending bit on these updates, the German sentence is meant for Nation homies, and the one written in traditional Chinese is meant for the imperial comrades. mentioning this adds no further context to the campaign at large, I just felt like sharing.

RIP to that MNHR boss. That dice roll is absolutely nuts lol

hello Fellow overseers, today is unfortunate as I just realised that I accidentally deleted the folder I was keeping the text documents, but also a kinda good day because I managed to get a WiiU emulator working, specifically to play Splatoon 1, so I've been having some very fun nostalgia, which hopefully won't bleed into crossfade because I know for a fact that certain items and concepts from a certain cyber-punk setting have definitely infected my mind for future items or changes. regardless, welcome in for

SESSION 17

so, we start the session the way we usually start, with one of our players[bird] staring at a wall- oh... her face is missing. I see. moving on, as that revalation is quickly overshadowed by meeting the facility administrator, who first asks for Eve's orders, before mentioning the fact that it's quite odd that him and Fox look so alike. sure, they SOUND different, but like, they look nearly identical, you'd expect that Nation replikas and Imperial Replikas would have more differences than the colours of their armour, Polyethylene shells, and voicebanks. anyway while I was foreshadowing a story reveal, the facility administrator pushed Eve down the elevator, closely followed by a faceless bird Tackling Fox down the elevator shaft, and, after a two minute fall, they land on a pile of their own corpses. little fun note, Bird did canonically speaking die here, but her player didn't realise in the moment, do with that what you will. anyway, down on B[basement]-5, we get off to an ok continuation generally speaking. new arc and all, since I guess I'm wording it that way now[granted, we are getting pretty close to the mines and by extension, nowhere.] and you'll never guess who showed up again! that's right, the shopkeeper from a while ago, in fact from long enough ago that she missed Lilith EXPLODING. while here, fox gets a better look at the weapon upgrade from a while ago, Bird gets a random-mag for her pistol-
[item: misc-magazine. properties: for one magazine, adds random effects to any enemies shot, ranging from "enemy gains an extra turn" to "Enemy will attack it's allies on it's next turn". effects may also include ignoring armour, electrical rounds, incendiary rounds etc, at the game-master's discretion.]
-before fixing the paternoster, and cautiously heading down to floor B-6, finding a little pocket of the past. Fox and Eve go into what looks like a little security checkpoint, break an alarm so it'll blare nonstop, and run off. classic.... this group... I can't think of a name for this party actually. name suggestions welcome! anyway, eventually they went into the cleaning room hallway, and then had the hardest chellenge they've faced in god knows how long.

MOVING PARTS OF A MAKESHIFT BARRIER OUT OF THE WAY.

eventually getting through the door by making a awkward little hole in the barricade, making their way to the cleaning room and getting into the first bit of combat since the bossfight, allowing the A.M.R to show off two fun little features. it ignores cover, and you can hit two targets[provided you get the angles right so that your second target is BEHIND the first one] as demonstrated when fox got the angles right, turning a starling into vapor and killing the Eule behind them. Bird and Eve were able to get the last one, and we closed the session out with some memories notes, those being a technical overview of a staring unit, and a reminder about the broken lights on site.

see you all again next week!

Möge das wachsame Auge der großen Revolutionäre euch Sicherheit bringen.
願皇后的祝福伴你一路前行

PS. the AMR that fox has now was from an earlier idea of this whole campaign where I was planning to A. have far more moments in nowhere, and B. replace the og bossfights with some homebrew horrors of my own. One of which being a sniper "bossfight" that went unused because I couldn't think of any satisfying way to include or make engaging to fight. the replika herself never actually got developed into much, but the idea of the over-the top A.M.R stuck enough to make me keep it around as a potential weapon upgrade for a hypothetical party. I will admit though that this weapon is quite unbalanced, I understand that I'm putting it quite lightly, but still. I'll try to have the concept a bit more balanced by the next time I bring it up. here's where I'd joke about making unofficial DLC packs for Crossfade but I do not have NEARLY enough time or patience to devote to that. would be fun though

Eve's player found the notes.

good afternoon Fellow overseers[and Eve's player] welcome to the weekly report for operation 3-point-turn[name pending], this session definitely ended up notably sillier than intended, including a lot of confusion from my poor environmental descriptions as we approach the campaign sesnsus. regardless, welcome in for

SESSION 18

so our session started exactly where we left off last week, the party now deciding to investigate the Storch dorms, seeing as they're directly connected to each other without even a door separating them[gross, think of all the mold from all the steam] finding rounds for some fancy handgun they haven't found yet[hope y'all don't mind, I'm replacing the revolver with an Deagle. I know it's flashy and ostentatious but I can't torture the Replikas all the time.], an angry note from a random STCR unit, a brick in someone's locker, a magazine for said magnum pistol, and a brick. checking the beds they find one bed with a hollowed out mattress filled with boxes of cigarettes, which Fox immediately takes because obviously he would let's be real here, but nothing else of value in the room, so, up to the EULR dorm finding a box full of mysterious colour unlike any- which is ignored, a broken cassette player, as well as its broken cassette, and, after Fox takes the entitative of cutting a bed open, out of curiosity, finds a whole fuck ton of weed.
[call-back to episode 6.5, but specifically to a joke that I couldn't fit into the standard Bullet-point format I was doing back then]
which the party then takes, also finding "an axe that is also a bong" before the party  make their way over to the workshop hallway, getting into a small bit of combat before ending the session off for the week.

Möge das wachsame Auge der großen Revolutionäre euch Sicherheit bringen.
願皇后的祝福伴你一路前行

hi all! sorry that this one is so short in comparison to the other ones, my head has been spinning over the the last few days and it's been a bit hard for me to stay focussed recently, especially with all the projects I've had on deck, one of which is kinda related to this, and the other being only mildly related to this, in the way that it's mildly ttrpg related. if you squint and tilt your head a bit. point is, I'm sorry about the shortness of this update and slightly lacking in detail in certain sections, it feels a bit rude to say but they didn't really do much this week... regardless, I'll see you all next week! take care of yourselves! don't burn the candle on both ends like I usually end up doing!!

Sometimes sessions just be like that. Time goes by and you realize not all that much happened. Sometimes you get the opposite and sit back surprised at how much went on.
