Great art, a perfect hit on the topic. We couldn't figure out the uninvited guest, and we didn't understand how to solve the piano code)
Thank you!!

The game has a stylish design, and I believe the theme deserves a 5 out of 5 rating. Did you create the artwork yourself? I was pleasantly surprised by how exciting the game is, especially since I'm not generally a fan of this genre. Overall, the work is fantastic!
Thank you!! Please see the credits.

I think this was a really cool game and idea overall. Making us "guess" with some mystery and clues mixed with abit of the visual novel style is such a great idea. I like the cutscenes mixed with the audio cuts, they were really well timed and helped with the mood/pacing. For 36 hours, this is a great accomplishment! With even more time, better and consistent visuals which would help with a more cohesive look for the game, the story telling would be tighter and also, you'd be able to fix some of the hit boxes as at some points in the game I found myself pixel hunting.
Thank you!!
“Your game is super fun and the style is awesome — really well done!”
"Thank—you!!"
Enjoyed playing this game, well done! Really good use of the theme
Thank you!!
i was shocked you were able to get a cutscene in on the time available very impressive. Great job for that. There were some hitbox issues clicking on some of the people and interactions where i would get the same person to pop up in conversation. It would happen very frequently.
I would remedy this issue by checking in debugs and see if the print is hovering on what is being selected this may help.
The game fits the theme on the nose here. I can rate because my teammate has the rights but it would get 5/5 on theme for this one. The amount of OC characters is wild for the art production so hats off on that your wrists must be killing now.
Thank you!!
The characters were from the same pack I found in the credits (except for one).
I could try to make the mouse detection more accurate but I was in a rush for the jam. There will be a post-jam update and if I have time I may work on mouse detection. Thanks for the debug tip.
Please get that teammate to rate it 5/5!
First of all- really cool use of the theme. I haven't seen any other "figure out who is the uninvited guest" games in this jam! Not only it's original- it also is the basis for all the gameplay. Really good job on that one!
The presentation- it's ok, but could be better. The characters have totally different style than the backgrounds, so it clashes a bit. The sound is good, but the game is mostly quiet- some background music (or sounds- creaking floors, ticking clocks, wind outside) could add a lot to the atmosphere.
The idea for the game is cool- more murder mystery than horror, but that didn't bother me :) Searching for stuff in the rooms reminded me of old-school point and click games. The dialogue was all right for the most part, but I sometimes felt like it could use a bit of punch-up.
Btw- I failed and everyone died. In the end I solved the music puzzle, and got the message in the tower (attic?), but... it was useless? Or did I miss something? I feel like I need a tiny nudge in the right direction :)
Over all- I liked the game, especially the atmosphere, theme use, and the fact that for a jam game yours had a pretty decent length. I will return to this, to check out the ending :)
Thank you!!
Yes I agree as others have said some music would help but I ran out of time.

You have everything you need to solve the game, trust me. Just try thinking more creatively!
I will upload a walkthrough before the end of the jam if you want to check.
I won't spoil the ending, but something Spike says at the beginning of the last day and another character's response was (for me at least) a bit of a clue. Also, the guest having a vowel in their name is more accurate than it might seem.
Ooooh! If I didn't have plans for the evening, I'd check it out right now :)
I have finally uploaded a full walkthrough including the identity of the Uninvited Guest at the very end!

I made the game and even I had no clue what you were talking about until I went back and checked!
Ah, a clue so secret even the dev didn't know about it XD. I actually had to play through multiple times to notice it.
Cool use of the theme! You managed to take both "Halloween" and "uninvited guest" and combine it into one solid, cohesive game. That's difficult to do but you did it well - congrats!
A quick note on the art: I absolutely love the pixel art style of the house. The pixel art is full of character and personality, but I'm disappointed that this didn't carry into the character designs, which use a completely different vector-based art style. This took from the overall charm of the game.
Now, while text-heavy games aren't usually my thing, there were some strong elements in this one. You've managed to squeeze in a lot of content for only a 4 day jam, which is a feat in itself. The game is also intuitive and clear to understand, which is another bonus for me.
Great work! I enjoyed playing and reviewing this one :)
Thank you!!
I wish I had time to include more story content, but I ran out of time (day 5 and 6 are just one dialogue for this reason).
Really nice game that definitely fits the theme (both Halloween and uninvited guest). I love the pixel art style! Though the character designs don’t always feel completely consistent, the visuals still work well overall especially regarding the given time! Controls work fine, while mainly using the mouse and the story was surprisingly engaging. I genuinely wanted to solve it! Unfortunately there was a bug (SPOILER): When entering the code for the piano the game showed the dark room and then froze..Nothing happened and I had to reload. However, after doing it again and getting to an end, it was a great experience overall.
The UI could use a bit of polish (color and text style). I'd use less contrast here maybe. Also some background music would have added more atmosphere. Still, considering the time limit, this is a very well-made and enjoyable entry. It’s got charm, a solid concept, and a payoff that feels earned!
Thank you!!
Yes, I had to use one character from a separate pack (and made sure they were killed off early!)
I didn't know about the organ bug, sorry about that. I'll try to fix it after the jam but I don't know what could've caused it.
Others have talked about the lack of music, and I agree I'll add some after the jam.
Did you manage to guess the correct guest?
Haha, nope. I probably missed a hint, or maybe misspelled? Looking forward to the walk through though!
Already wondered how you consider a correct answer regarding capitals for instance.
It's impossible to enter any character into the computer other than lowercase letters.
The correct solution contains zero spaces.
Walkthrough/solutions coming in a few days before the end of the jam.
Spoiler: I can't figure out the final piano code. Based on scroll, I tried 65433 123432. Am I on the right track?
Spoiler:
Yes, you're very close!It's just 76544 instead of 65433
Got it, thanks. This was a fun game. Backgrounds were very detailed and it must have been a lot of work getting the story set up. Some chill background music would have been a nice addition, though the simple sound effects you did use did add to the mood. I can't rate your game yet because it's not in my queue, but hope I can if I can get through it.
Thank you!! Good luck with the queue.
Finished and rated your game :)
Played this more then I would like to admit, so did my wife. She was adamant about solving this. Eventually got it. Great job!
Thank you and Congratulations!!
I thought I was being silly with my guess but it was right. Good twist! Nice, tight little experience. I found it difficult to click on the person on the far left. I kept being told by someone else that we should explore the rest of the house later.
Thank you!!
Yeah, that character overlaps with the door a bit. I'll fix that after the jam.
