Ngl I kinda wanna see the glitchy aspects of the web version post-reset expanded upon as a feature of the game itself, if you ever continue it.

This was a cool short arcade game! I liked the generally smooth gameplay and the colorful visuals a lot. The increasing difficulty keeps things interesting, and I was especially surprised by the use of an open-source 8-bit console to make an authentic retro game.

I can see that you put a lot of work into this! Excellently done! ^.^

It took me a while to realize why sakuya wasn't dying despite shooting her a million times until i figured out it's the doll's shot that needs to kill her (i thought the doll was shooting the needles) so derp moment from me :p

pretty cool but tough game. I definitely wish the game gave you more lives or had a way of giving you more lives (maybe that happens in later stages?) because unfortunately im a scrub who keeps getting hit by stray needles.

It's funny to see people in the comments learn about old games when I very much am in tune with your taste lol (shoutouts to your Black Widow game that's one of my favorite Atari games). You went from making retro-inspired games, to making retro games for existing systems, to now making a retro game for a homebrew system. Quite a cool journey. I like the dynamic of having to balance aiming your shots with collecting Shanghai at the right time. Tis pretty cool.

ok so first of all what the fuck how did you do that

creating an authentic 8-bit rom for touhou game jam is completely unhinged and i love it so much. conveniently, i also love the game itself! movement feels incredibly smooth, which is impressive for a game with 8-bit limitations and even more impressive when said limitations give it a choppy framerate. i know that sounds inherently antithetical to smooth gameplay but i swear to you it honestly doesn’t make it feel any worse. bullet patterns also help, they're generally very well-done and predictable without being too easy. i REALLY wish i could see the hitbox, but it was never too much of a concern. trying to hit the bosses with the doll attack is also a bit annoying at times but never too bad. the difficulty curve is good for a while, but it goes completely batshit insane at stage 7 out of nowhere. admittedly i never made it past, the gameplay is pretty slow and methodical which isn’t a bad thing by any means but makes going through it all again to learn the next stage VERY daunting. kind of a big fan of the story too, despite it only being mentioned for a few lines in the description (which once again is a fair concession given the limitations that were being worked with here). even managed to get the theme in in a unique way!

perhaps i’d have had an even better time if my broke ass could afford that gametank thingy but as it stands that was hella cool

I always enjoy getting educated on arcade history by your games. Yar's Revenge, huh?

I found stage 7 quite hard - you die very quickly until you figure out how the bullets accelerate. I think I got the hang of it on my last run. Stage 8 seems quite cool, I survived reasonably long but wasn't able to land a killing blow. How many stages are there?

Love the 8 bits style you chose there! The gameplay is fun and very responsive. I think a hit stop when the player dies would add to that experience even more! Overall a really nice arcade game!

Absolutely fascinating technology, however it seems like my auditory system is having stroke right now.

With the main concept of having to shoot down a boss's shields before hitting them, it's like a partial role swap of Space Invaders - interesting concept and execution!

It already gets rather hard to survive and to nail the bosses from as soon soon as level 4.
The difficulty curve kinda works but obviously it's not too refined.

The game really doesn’t like it as sometimes when restarting, the textures go all crazy. It’s funny though. This might be because I clicked outside the game window.
