Hi Umeboshilover,
Sorry for the delay! I keep on not getting notifications for me posts so keep missing them ๐ญ
I am hearing, but am love languages and hate that Sign Languages are rarely included in video games so decided to host this jam to try and encourage more people to add Sign Languages to games. Wow, you know a lot of languages! Are there any languages you are currently learning? I'm currently learning BSL, and have previously learnt a bit of Japanese Sign Language and Korean Sign Language when I lived in those countries but need to learn a lot more. I've been interested in Sign Languages for a long time, I wanted to BSL when I was a younger, but there wasn't an option to learn it at school which I always thought was strange.
Thank you for sharing your game! It looks amazing! I just backed it on kickstarter. Feel free to share your game in both the Signful Game Jam discord and my other discord server for game devs who are learning languages and I'm sure that some people there would be interested.
By the way, if you're interested here's a game I started making a few years ago that includes BSL and Japanese Sign Language ๐

Hi Willow Flame! First I must thank you for backing my game project "Just Prices" on Kickstarter.
Yeah, it is a known bug(?) on itch.io. Wonderful that you hosted such an exciting jam. Unfortunately I had so little free time lately, but I will submit my short game by 23rd September 7PM in your "Signful game" jam :) I know why you chose 23rd September ;) It is an international Day of Sign Languages. I recently submitted my game to $109 Adventure Challenge. Due to little free time, the game wasn't like that I envisioned, but I can anytime update it later :)
Yeah, I was surprised to find very few sign-language-added video games in 2025.
Thanks for the discord links. Currently I don't have account, but I'm considering creating account someday soon! I played your game just now, and it is very sweet. And as a multilingual Deaf person, it excites me to see Japanese sign language and read Japanese (ah, natsukashii!!), and see BSL. Do you have plan to make it a full-fledged fullversion? Can you also make a retro pixelart adventure game where characters react with their pixelart portrait animations instead of realistic animations, what do you think?
No problem! I wish you the best of luck with getting your project funded!
Hopefully, they will be able to fix it as I always feel bad when I discover I've missed a comment. And thank you, I look forward to seeing your game later. Yes, I picked International Day of Sign Languages as it seemed like the perfect day for people to play a range of different games that include Sign Languages. Though, I have been considering extending the deadline as I think some people who have been working on games aren't quite ready to submit (including me ๐
Though I might just submit an older project than the one I intended on submitting).
Same :( Most platforms don't even give people the option to search for games in any particular Sign Language unlike written or spoken languages.
No worries, would it be OK for me to share your kickstarter in a few places then? And thank you for playing my game! The Japanese Signs were done by the wonderful Manae Makino she has a YouTube channel and Instagram that I recommend checking out if you want to see more Japanese Sign Language ๐
Yes, I'm hoping to make a full version. I've been trying to get funding for a few years and have shown the demo at a few events in the UK, but so far haven't managed to get enough to make a longer version. I will keep trying though!
Pixelart is not the usual art style I do but have been thinking it might suit the wedding themed game I've wanted to make. I also have made demos of a farming game (that reuses some of Mixcommunication's signs) and have been working on some 3D demos too which I plan to use with motion capture. So maybe someday I will make a pixelart game in that kind of style ๐
