Whether you're learning a Sign Language for the first time or you're learning a new one, this post is here to help you get started. Below is a selection of dictionaries, courses, and YouTube videos for several Sign Languages that you can use to help you get started in learning your chosen Sign Language.

💡 Remember: You don’t need to be fluent to take part  - even learning a few signs is a great start! These are just a few options to get you going. Feel free to use them for reference or inspiration during the jam.

*YouTube videos that include CC can often be translated into a variety of written Languages.

🇺🇸 American Sign Language (ASL)

🇬🇧 British Sign Language (BSL)

🇯🇵 Japanese Sign Language (JSL)

🇫🇷 French Sign Language (LSF)

🇮🇹 Italian Sign Language (LIS)

🇩🇪 German Sign Language (DGS)

🇪🇸 Spanish Sign Language (LSE)

If you’ve found other helpful tools, channels, or dictionaries , especially in languages not included above - please share them here💜

Hello WillowFlame! That is wonderful that you posted something about sign languages! Are you deaf? I am deaf and sign languages are my mother tongues; Norwegian, American, German, Japanese and Russian. I can also a little British sign language as well. May I ask what prompted you to be interested in sign languages?

I also want to encourage people to visit my sign language-based retro adventure game: https://umeboshilover.itch.io/just-prices
