How does your game fit the theme?
Limited Space: Player must stay within a ring and instead of taking damage when hit by enemies, the ring decreases in size. Used only circles and pentagons (Limited Shapes)

This was a really cool concept, but starting with 5 colours was too much for me ๐ข, this led to me basically scroll spamming haha. I liked the sound effects, very retro, and dodging the pentagons while staying in the circle hits the theme. Also spamming space hurt my wrists, so perhaps players may benefit from hold to fire. Other than this, the game was great. Gg
Yeah, great game concept! The arrow buttons were working on azerty keyboard, so that's a plus! ๐
Nice concept which fits the theme of limited space, with the circle reducing in size as you get hit and i also like how it increases if you take out enemies! I like the shooting sfx and the frequency of shooting, felt nice to shoot fast!
I have a few suggestions which could possibly improve the experience: 1. I think if you could start with fewer circles initially and then gradually increase the number, it would help the player get adjusted to the enemy movements. I think the difficulty is a bit high to start with! 2. Adding some visual feedback for circles disappearing or the player getting hit would add a lot more juice.. just a few camera shakes here and there, some particle effects.. woud go a long way!
Overall good game, nice use of the shapes and the theme!
I like try to avoid striking space but the score does not work
Hey our games are kinda similar :3
I love the concept, you really deeply integrated the shape limitation into the gameplay which is very cool, and it works really well - it is a unique twist on the arcade shooter.
One of the main ways you can increase the "fun" in a game is to focus on the decisions the player has to make. In this game, I don't really feel like I make many decisions at all. I would've liked to see different enemy types - that is one of the more fun decisions in a game like this! Smaller/larger circles with different health, a filled circle that moves in a different way, that way I have to prioritize what I'm shooting at.
Your colours could also do with a little bit of work I think - they are very saturated, which hurts my eyes a little bit after a long time, plus it's a little difficult to see the blue on the black background.
The game concept is nice. Good job!
I think it needs a little bit of balancing tho. If you spam [space] and [e] it can become a bit easy.
Mby give different speed to smaller enemies.
It could also be interesting to be able to shoot only from one side.
There a quite a few things you could try.
Love the colors. Besides maybe some automatic fire and the staying center to not lose bug, solid gameplay. Some simple powerups dropped by destroying circles that change the conditions of the circles could spice things up (maybe some that turn all of the circles rainbow so you don't have to aim?) but otherwise, fantastic job.
Yeah the autofire is probably a good add for later, I just liked hitting space, felt reminiscent of an arcade system. The center bug I plan to fix just funny people tried that. And yeah I may flush this out more and add powerups and such, the rainbow color idea is interesting.
Interesting game. You can add camera shaking and some particles on destroy to increase the juice :)
Thanks for playing!
Those are some great ideas for adding some extra juice later, though I'll have to be careful with how much because you can kill a lot at once.
You incorporated the requirements for this jam really well, especially the gameplay is creative! My fingers did not enjoy spamming E and space the whole time though :') maybe automatic firing or aiming by moving the mouse would have been easier to control
Pressing space is tiresome. Please add automatic fire when keeping space pressed.
Thanks for playing and the feedback.
Yeah I thought about that but I liked the tactile feeling of pressing a bunch, but totally understand. I may adjust later as I was planning to add touch controls and an auto fire makes sense there.
nice game with good art style and idea.
Thanks!
nice game and idea
I like the art style but the gameplay is a littile bit boring
Nice game but there is a glitch if you stay in the middle of the circle you will never los
No one had done that in our friend group but I know exactly why that happens code wise, so thanks for letting me know.
Thanks for playing!
