I liked the music. :) Everything else was good too, but I feel like the deadline came a bit too fast, right? I feel you there though! (that design of that angel/skeletton is so cool though!)

The boxes behaved a bit weirdly and a switch seemed to be placed a bit too far down into the ground, which caused it to activate repeatedly. I also got stuck in the room with two switches and two boxes Even when both boxes were on top of the switches the door just wouldn't open. Upon a restart the issue was gone however, so wasn't a problem!

All in all: Good game!

Developer

thanks for the reply!

the pressure plates have a variable that defines how deep into the ground they should go, i accidently left it as the default 0.7 which led to the plates going into the ground then rising up again because there is no more contact with the rigidbody before going back down again and making a damn mess

I think the reason of the boxes' behaviour is that I forgot to make a physics material for them, (there was already one that had no friction that i placed on the ground and the player so that the player doesn't get stuck on walls but it also led to boxes being slippery)

also, thy skeleton is Azcuth himself, the god of reality. the idea behind his design is that Azcuth was a powerful and feared god, after his death, his body was preserved inside the tomb, but he wasn't really dead. but his body kept rotting so much he had to put away his heart to get charged into another place than his chest, leading to it getting crystalized, which is the artefact many have died searching for

The VFX with the light and and glow is very cool! Also the player feels good to control and the artwork is S-tier! Great work!

Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!

Very cool jam submission! The platforming is good and the idea with the lights is nice and leaves a lot of room for potential extensions :D There were a few bugs, like not dying in some lava pits but since you had a restart button it was not a big problem ;) I think the loop theme could use a little more tuning and is only like a very loose interpretation, but I like the overall game you created! :)

Developer

thanks for the comment! I am pretty proud of this game

Had a lot of fun, movement feels really nice and bouncy, and I like the particle effects and lighting. I like the idea of going back in the level to find something you missed before. Good job!

Developer

thanks for the reply!

I am pretty proud of this game. and I wanted to ask : would you prefer that at the end, instead of a chase running away from Azcuth, or a boss fight against him? or both?

I enjoyed the game! Simple but really fun, especially the later levels with the lights. I liked how new elements were introduced as you progress, it kept things fresh. The art is nice too. If you have time, feel free to check out our game as well!

thanks for the reply!

I was actually a bit stressed about the levels not playing with the new concepts more, i kind of felt like I was introducing something new then just discarding of it. but now I know I did the right choise.

later when i turn this into a full release, I will add new levels with new mechanics that get explored a bit before introducing new things

Nice little game. My favourite platformer for this jam right now! It's a mistery how I did find that torch on the first try! It's so small :)

Developer

I tried making it clearer by removing the lights from it and adding the "maybe the rooms aren't so identical" text.

though i think its best right now, kind of feels like "find the difference", maybe I am gonna make it the theme of a level with three repeating rooms where you have to find the number of differences

Very fun and cozy game! It reminds me of the games I played as a child. Nice experience :D

Developer

thanks for the reply!

what are the games you played?

Submitted(+1)

Nice puzzle and platform game, it not hard that much for me to understand haha.

If possible, can you please vote my game and leave a comment too?

Developer(+2)

just the title of your game makes me think of my game lol

alright I gonna try it out

Oh, what a great puzzle game! I completely lost track of time and finished it before I even knew it.

Developer

its pretty short anyway

but thanks

Fun little game :)  It has a neat story, he player controls felt good, and the art is cute! I would suggest replacing the buttons in the mirror rooms with something you hold E on to operate, since trying to scoot the player on and off the floor buttons to precisely turn the mirror was a little annoying.

Developer

honestly? I though about that too, it was pretty shitty using buttons

since I am planning on redoing the game anyway, I am gonna change it to an operating lever that you can even put in the middle for no movement

The first thing I noticed is how much the controls felt like a Mario game, but without the annoying carry-over of momentum when you change direction. Very cool game!

And I just have to mention that I adore the cover art, makes me think of the cover art of old 80's or 90's games that looked nothing like the actual game itself, but were still beautiful.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

the controls in this game work with "rb.velocity =" not "rb.addForce()" (rb being RigidBody)

and the cover art not looking like the game is a complete coincidence, since the artist of the cover art was supposed to make the rest of the art but was in fact helping other game jam participants with their art, so he didn't have time for us, leading to me making all the art while only being good at pixel art.

but the cover hits hard ngl

I think it looks more like a 90's cartoon, also kind of looks like a Ghibli anime

thanks for the comment!
