I don't think this is your game...

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing! There is a list of things to improve and add to the jam release underway!

Thank you for playing!

The current solution I'm leaning towards that was suggested by someone else is not letting clones touching each other lead to a failure. Since you're avoid them anyway when you record, it shouldn't prevent things from getting hectic too much, but I'll need to test different ideas!

Thanks for trying it out! It is very much imperfect, but I'm proud of how complete it feels to me, as a jam game. Only my second time actually doing art for a game and I've learned a lot from this jam alone!

Thanks for the detailed feedback! It's going on the list of improvements to work on!

(1 edit)

I think you focused on the right things! It felt really good to drive (though I wouldn't complain about an even higher speed cap!) and it's only a jam entry anyway! Maybe more loops in the existing track too? There's a counter for the loops at the top, but both loops are near the start, so after that it feels a bit like you've achieved your goal and are just waiting for the end so you can go again?

Though, again, it feels good to play and I think that's really important.

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it! I took some inspiration from on "old" PS3 platformer.

This was my first time playing a racer with mouse steering, but it meant I got to strafe, which turned out to be really helpful with turns! The controls felt really smooth, it was awesome! There were some segments that were very interesting like the weird squiggly pipes, I wish there was more of that! Very fun.

I hope you enjoy my entry too!

I'll give yours a go now!

The only thing I'd wish from this game is faster movement, but being able to shoot the projectiles is a cool substitute! The concept is simple and very easy to grasp, but it gets challenging very quickly. There's lots going on for player communication, SFX are great, the player changing colour as you take damage is awesome, particle effects are neat... I discovered that the map loops by complete accident, but it was pretty cool! A great way to get out of a tight spot.

Very cool game! I hope you try out and rate my entry too!

Genius. Just genius. No other notes.

I don't think I can compare, but I hope you try out and rate my attempt at a puzzle platformer too!

Ahh that's a shame... thanks all the same! In future jams I think I'll prioritise a web build!

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you liked it!

Jank is what gives jam games there charm! It's interesting to get an idea of how everything was put together!

I loved this! Couldn't make it past the black holes part, but I was surprised to see it change theming at all! I wonder how many parts of the journey through space I missed?

It made me think of scooping fuel in Elite: Dangerous, mixed with Flappy Bird mechanics. The setup made it feel very different from Flappy Bird though!

Also, visuals are CRISP!

I hope you try out and rate my entry too!

It was a little tough to navigate without some sort of indicator of where I was on the map (at least, I didn't see one), and I clipped through the floor at one point and landed somewhere else on the map???

Fever dream. But the taxi feels good to control and picking up speed and drifting around corners without hitting stuff is very satisfying! I like it!

Thank you so much for playing! Volume controls (and obviously mute functions) are near the top of the list for things to add, I just didn't have time before the deadline! Might also take the time to compose some more tracks for more variety...

I definitely don't blame you for that. It didn't affect my rating!

My thoughts exactly. But I imagine it's a quick fix once the jam is passed! And since your game showed up in the GMTK stream, you might still get a bunch of new players after the voting period!

Oh no no no, but I've encountered one or two throughout my life so far!

I'll tell you what, I'm glad nobody's commented on how many similarities there are between this and Mind Over Magnet. I've done a few things to deliberately try to deviate from it.

Just make a text adventure game! :-P

Thanks for playing!

I was so happy with the death effect that I decided to add it to the victory sequence at the end of a level as well! And added a few extra explosions just off-screen for the final level 👀

It's definitely something for me to work on! The clones copy the player's inputs, but if the level has changed since then, such as with moving platforms, then they might end up somewhere else as well. That's intentional.

That isn't to say the game doesn't have bugs though, and dying because of something off-screen was probably a poor design decision too.

Thank you so much for playing!

Thank you so much for playing!

I am indeed planning on working on it after the jam, I have a list of design and programming fixes to make!

For your first point, I hadn't really thought about that... there is a bug that causes copies to behave incorrectly under specific conditions, which gives you less control over what can kill you I suppose... but I guess it is kind of unfair anyway if something happens to make you die off-screen, isn't it?

For the second point, I actually planned to fill in the in-level sections instead with a nice non-distracting background. I'm not an artist though and didn't have time to do that before the deadline!

You could always come back after the voting period and add to it! I mean, it's basically another metaphor to what it's like holding a conversation with a kid sometimes, right? ;-P

It's a GameMaker game, I know in the past some systems have treated GameMaker projects as viruses. I don't know yet what the official workaround is.

Very cool! I'm not sure why, but I like the system of putting hints at the ends of longer paths. Like I explore down that route to see what it says, it reveals something about the game and I go "ah, that's how I deal with that thing over there!" Kinda like a Metroidvania, I guess? Me likey!

I hope you try out and rate my entry too!

My one won't run for you? It's made for Windows, are you maybe on Mac or Linux?

Very cool, very retro! Using past cars to boost yourself forwards is interesting, you can prepare and plan for one super-fast lap!

I hope you try out, enjoy, and rate my entry as well!

The projectiles looping around the screen is awesome! And the artwork and music are incredible! Love it.

The parts of the track where it crosses over itself are brilliant! Unfortunately, the game lagged a bit for me, probably because I have the GMTK stream open in another window. I had fun!

I hope you'll try and rate my entry too!

I like the new approach to ghosts in racing games! Especially with a racing game, where precise dodges are harder, this gets very interesting and challenging very quickly!

Also, you can drive a hot dog. 10/10

I hope you'll try out and rate my entry too!

Thanks so much for playing! It's the second game where I've had to do the art myself, and I've found that robots are much easier to draw than literally anything organic...

I plan to, but I can't upload it during the voting period. Oh well! Thanks all the same!

So cool! I don't think I've ever been sabotaged by my own command of the English language before...

I hope you try and rate my entry as well!

This is insane for a Scratch project! Well done! Gives me Fancypants vibes!

I hope you'll try and rate my entry too!

Something about an AI that's literally just a PC with a smily face on its monitor really speaks to me... I love the AI character and the little robots! I wish the time between dying and starting the next loop wasn't quite so long, but the game concept is really solid!

And that one little detail of the new robots always hitting that ledge and rolling down a bit just to give some more life through the physics system... a very sneaky and effective way of making the game feel alive. Bravo!

I hope you'll try out and rate my entry too!

So satisfying! Some words are a bit disappointing, like "mr", but I imagine it's unrealistic to curate the entire English language. It feels so good to control. I wonder if it could be made to support the trackpad on a PS4 or PS5 controller, if it doesn't already?

I hope you'll try and rate my entry too!

I love Asteroids, and I'm starting to discover that I love roguelikes! The idea of adding powerups to Asteroids is cool, but then some of the ideas for powerup go above and beyond, like the penetration one! I'm a bit miffed that there's always a trade-off, but it does let you choose what you want to focus on. Also the overall retro feel with the art and sound effects is awesome!

I hope you'll try out and rate my entry too!

It's a really cool idea to use the loop as a way of letting the player optimise their gameplay rather than adding obstacles! I love the idea, the controls feel nice and smooth, and the music and art really slap!

I hope you'll try out and rate my entry too!

The art is really charming!
