The core mechanic is super creative — I’ve never seen this kind of enemy wave system combined with rhythm and track-building before. Really impressive!

My brain definitely started melting around wave 5~6, but I had a great time experimenting and defeating enemies with different tones and patterns.

A very strong and original entry for this jam. Well done!

Thanks for playing, fighting brainmelt is kinda the draw of my game :) Glad you enjoyed

A very clever mechanic, and the waves build on each other nicely! Realizing that I had to match the whole sequence to whittle down the last few enemies was cool :D

Developer

I'm glad you found it clever rather than convoluted :D Thanks for playin

Got lucky initially so I didn't realize how clever it was that the enemies are changing color on the beats and I had to move the nodes around to match their timing!  I think some telegraphing of their next color would have been helpful to avoid memorization, but once I got the premise it all worked.  Very fun, very clever mechanic and definitely a great use of the DAW loop structure.  Also loved that I could make great-sounding chords and that the enemies were switching instruments.  Nicely done!

Thank you for your feedback! I'm still trying to figure out how to convey mechanics and how to balance them so any insight on that is always helpful.

Agree that the premise is confusing enough to warrant a small in-game tutorial. It was hard to get that the enemies change color.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. You are definitely right and it will be something to consider in the future

Nice gameplay; this is probably the best of the “music loop” interpretations I’ve come across so far.

Developer

Wow, thanks I appreciate it

"Good idea, I think it's a fun game but I don't understand it, so I haven't been able to fully enjoy it. Good job."

It takes a bit of leaning because I was confused at first. But then I got it! Super fun and a very fun take!

Had a great time playing! Really like your take on the theme, super creative.

It took me a moment to figure out each enemy’s pattern, maybe there’s a way to make that a bit clearer and more easily readable? Just a small thought.

Overall, awesome work!

Thanks for playing. Readibility really was a challenge for me. Thanks for the feedback!

This game is really interesting!  I like that if you place a colored block on the first beat of a measure, you can let it resolve and then if you're quick enough you can probably drag it to the fourth beatto get two hits of it in the same measure.  I like the concept a lot I feel like it can be expanded.

I think the only thing holding this game back is this kind of game probably needs an in game guided tutorial to really teach you what's happening, but that's a huge ask on a four day jam for gameplay as different as this.  I think it would also probably be good if in addition to the yellow arrow at the bottom you have a line scrolling over where the tempo is currently at.

Great job I love how unique this game is.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I think conveying the concept of the game was really the biggest hurdle for me. I found that when I explained it in person people got it but I couldn't translate that into a tutorial.

Nice idea, also the music bars are fantastic! I didn’t quite get the enemies that switch colors by specific time. Sometimes I thought I will get them (when I have the right color at the right time), but then I somehow miss them. I think they switched so fast, I didn’t even have time to learn their pattern.

But still the game is cool and I enjoyed playing it.

Developer

Thanks for playing. That was a worry for me as the rules can be not so obvious the first time around. I always have trouble balancing mechanics. I'm glad you enjoyed it tho!
