I like the mechanic of having to orbit around in full loop to mine! Maybe it's my skill issue but i really wanted to be able to do a full loop without adjusting my direction too much. haha

It was a great experience and I had a lot of fun! good submission!

Thanks!

Very interesting and mechanic, fun to master.
Also, the fact that there's an RNG option is to be appreciated :)
Would love some more complicated levels, maybe with asteroids with weird shapes, or maybe a hole in the middle.
Overall, well polished and well made!

Developer

Thank you. I might add more levels and more kinds of asteroids after the jam is over

So fun to loop the asteroids to explode them, I like it

Developer

Glad you like it <3

Very cool use of the drifty Asteroids-style controls. It is fun zooming around the meteors when you get the hang of it, I think it would be really cool if there were some more gravity mechanics or more incentive to be faster (although a high score system is not bad!). Feel free to try our game out too, we have a very similar Asteroids-inspired control scheme!

Thank you

Beautiful art style! The visuals are really polished and atmospheric, they pulled me into the world right away. Great work on the presentation!

Thank you very much!

Needs a speedrunning leaderboard, otherwise excellent.

Thank you. I might add it once the rating part of the jam is over :D

K.U.A. Protocol is a promising prototype developed for a game jam, demonstrating strong potential and a well-executed core mechanic. Notably, its availability across web, Windows, and Linux platforms makes it highly accessible (expanding support to macOS would further broaden its reach).

To enhance the overall gameplay experience, the following improvements are recommended:

  • Implement a scoreboard to boost replayability and encourage competition.
  • Reward players for quickly circling asteroids—perhaps with bonus resources (nitrogen).
  • Introduce asteroid movement to add dynamic.
  • Upon collisions, consider deducting lives or splitting asteroids into smaller fragments as a penalty, which could add variety of the game.

Overall, K.U.A. Protocol is a creative and well-structured entry that lays a solid foundation. With additional features and refinement, it has the potential to evolve into an engaging and memorable space exploration game—one that could endure well beyond the year 2381 :)

I look forward to an expansion or the release of a new game.

Good Job kubfaf!

Absolutely love the premise here - not only do you have to pull off a loop around the asteroids, but also have to do it as close to them as you can - definitely makes this game stand out among other "draw the loop" games this jam!

That said, I couldn't help but immediately think that this game could be more fun if the asteroids had gravity, so then it's not just trying to wrestle with the controls (which is a pretty fun setup - reminds me of sailing game controls), but also trying to deal with orbital mechanics at the same time while trying to keep as low of an orbit as possible. Could make for some really fun gameplay if you ever decide to revisit this project!

But as it is now, definitely still a fun premise, great work on this entry!

Thanks! I did consider adding gravity to them, but unfortunately it didn't fit within the scope. Game development is tough! :D

This is a really interesting concept! Just a shame i can never master how to turn the spaceship lol.

Thanks for the kind feedback!
