PayPal's actions have utterly sickened me.
My hope is that Itch.io gets a new Payment Processor ASAP and fixes this mess.

Elon Musk is building one, Steam said they also want to seek alternatives, and I believe the three may be related.

I'm not going to spread negativity, I do not know how it will work nor how well it will work. but I'd welcome any competition in the space at this point. why is it that there are 9 thousand fiscal institutions in the united states and 7 online payment processors?

Sometimes negativity is deserved.  Musk is not going to save payment processing anymore than he saved automobiles.  And given his behavior towards his daughter and tyrannical approaching to managing Twitter, I wouldn't be surprised if a hypothetical payment processor made by Musk banned all LGBTQ+ content.

Another one? Musk was involved in the creation of Paypal.

Based on how Musk is acting the last decades, nothing he would build is to be trusted.
