I have doubts over the sincerity of their claims to bring NSFW stuff back.

It's been over a week, and the issue was with certain types of content, not a blanket NSFW issue. They delisted everything NSFW to allow time to audit which ones needed to be removed and which could be reinstated. So far we've heard of plenty that have been permanently removed but how many have been reinstated? The NSFW tag is gone and there's nothing visible in the Adult tag other than vaguely adult themes which implies nothing has actually been reinstated.

Similarly, no update has been given about timelines, what is being done or clarifying how removal and subsequent refunds are going to affect creators. This feels less like a company trying to resolve an issue and more like one that is doing nothing and just waiting for it all to blow over.

Seems like the NSFW tag is back: https://itch.io/games/tag-nsfw

There are 1919 results. I would guess that the site had more free games than that. So it looks like they did something other than simply taking all free games and re-listing them?

The update indicated that creators also need to use the new content warning system to get the shadowban lifted.  Could be that 's the reason we're not seeing more NSFW games restored yet.

I saw a screenshot going around that showed over 14k “NSFW” search results. That’s 700% higher than the current number. The situation is worse if we take out the new AI-generated projects. Adding to that are the projects from the past few months that weren’t indexed at all, for unstated reasons.

We can’t know how many pages are hidden without someone from Leafo’s side disclosing that, but my guess is that 10% of the previously indexed projects marked “sensitive” are currently up.

I think itch has shown signs of doing everything they can to help us, and it's even possible that the shadowban is to protect us.

It's as if itch were the mother rabbit, and we were the baby rabbits. When the wolf comes, the first thing you do as a mom is hide the baby rabbits.
