Was really feeling the player being the weakest creature on this one! Think I made it to day 6 or so, quite liked the tycoon aspect of balancing your future currency against your current defenses, trying to employ as few guards as possible for any given night. I'm curious if the scarecrows were meant to scare away the animals from the crops the animals being planned to be able to destroy them, or if the were more of a distraction so the guards could make a decisive strike. Nice work finishing this up!
I couldn't figure out how to get more carrots but i survived a while with the gaurds i bought!
Interesting game! I had 300+ carrots, but then the game went to a "blue screen" and restarted. Sadly, it doesn't matter where you place each guard or carrot; it’s more about guessing how many foxes will come at night and planting more carrots to maximize your profits - which I actually quite enjoyed. Would T-pose again.
This one is unique. But i find it confusing at how to get the seed again, when i spend all my resource on buying Defending items.
But still, good work.
Carrot Guard was a fun little game. Really cool that you managed to get a full planting and reaping system working within the jam’s time limit. impressive.
A few things I ran into:
The shop exit button wasn’t super obvious at first; I figured out pressing E again worked, but a little visual cue could help.
Also, I wasn’t totally sure how to survive the fox—felt like I just had to keep throwing guards at it since I couldn’t grow more carrots after spending them all. Maybe I missed something?
One weird bug I hit was getting stuck in the death animation sometimes when jumping. Not sure what triggered it, but it happened a few times. After surviving a fox attack and jumping at night time i think.
Overall, solid jam game with a neat system in place—just needs polish. Would love to see where you take it next :))
Thank you so much for the feedback! Subtle things like shop exit queues, and a brief tutorial should definitely be added. I appreciate it!
Man, that's one bug that went under my radar. I didn't jump enough when playtesting. When looking into It I found a really funny "feature", if you jump in place without moving you just fall flat on your face and don't get up. XD
Haha, I liked the jump animation so I was pretty much spamming it my entire playthrough,
I really like the character models and the camera work. Also, the fact that all the characters are just T-posing is oddly funny to me
