1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Howdy! I'm Mitch, but I also go as raykinu as well (and on twitter!)

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

A friend and I actually tried to do this game jam a couple of years ago - sadly we didn't submit anything because we were both a little overwhelmed with the workload. However! This time I want to create a very small and basic prototype of a game that I've been conceptualizing for a while, I'll try to make it as basic as I can, but I'm also very excited as well!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I'm a huge fan of fighting games and games with really rich stories. Games like Va-11 Ha-11-a, Indivisible, Skullgirls, Streets of Rage 2, Mamoru-kun has been Cursed, Undertale/Deltarune and Touhou Project and Nier: Automata  really inspired me to make a video game and create my own.  Also the fact that almost all of those games are made by indie / solo developers is incredibly inspiring!!

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've worked with Game Maker Studio 2 for the longest time, but I've only worked with tutorials, I understand a lot of the concepts of what I want to do, but I'm still a huge newbie despite everything (putting everything into code is the hardest part for me haha) - but I'd love to take this as a huge learning experience and make something out of it!!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Robots and protags! If the protagonist is a robot, then that's a huge bonus. I love writing really rich and well written protagonists and deep relationships between characters and intresting stories to go along with it.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Build a very rough prototype of the game project I want to create.  Just some basic platforming into a transition room where the "Fighting Game" styled (think Street Fighter and Skullgirls)  fights take place and once the fight is over, and then have a transition out of that room and back to the platforming segments, much like Indivisible. I feel as though if I really break it down and have a start then the rest of the game will shape up in time, and I can refine and tweak with time.  Like I said in one of the earlier questions, I have a really good idea on what I wanna do and how to do it based on tutorials that I've watched, but I'm not really sure how to put this system into code, so I'd love to figure that out during this jam, and hopefully it's smooth sailing from here on out! :D

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi, I'm PandaIzumim but just call me Izumi. Panda's fine too I guess.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I'm joining because I really need to sit down and just make a game no matter how small it is.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I tend to like RPGs, The Final Fantasy games are some of my favorites, particularly 12, 6, and 8. I also play a lot of Stardew Valley and enjoys games like it and Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons. Final fantasy is definitely what made me want to make games though.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I used to mess around with an engine called RPG Toolkit but but I think It's pretty dead now. I've also played around with C++/SDL2 for a bit. I tinkered with Godot for a bit but the engine wasn't for me. Recently I bought RPG Maker VX Ace when it was last on Humble Bundle and did a few tutorials but haven't played with it much aside that. For the past few weeks though I've been learning Cocos Creator and have been enjoying it.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Honestly art. I love to draw even thought I don't do it as much as I should.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

For this jam I want to get more comfortable with Cocos Creator and JavaScript RPG Maker VX Ace, maybe figure out pixel art. But really I just want to finish a nice small game.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

I'm Sal, otherwise known as Leaflens or "Salad" - a nickname from an autocorrected message that's stuck for years. I'm a 20 year old games art/design student who's definitely on the more artsy side.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first time joining a jam! A previous MFGJ participant (mythridate) shared news of this jam, so I thought why not? I've been having a hard time at uni due to my health and have never been one to finish projects. I figured this is a great place to get back into creating again!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I've got a varied taste in games - from Animal Crossing and the original Harvest Moon games to God of War and the Yakuza series. I'm a big fan of character-focused/driven games and stories, like the Ace Attorney and Danganronpa series. Visual Novels, namely Ren'py games, probably take up most of my game library. I've wanted to make games ever since I first picked up a DS, but due to poor time management and my short attention span, they all remain as unfinished outlines and scattered lore documents on my desktop.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've dabbled in many engines and none really stuck. My personal favourite is the Wolf RPG Editor despite the lack of English tutorials. I ended up reverse engineering some existing games which stuck more than following steps.

I've made a demo of a game I'm planning to complete called "One Way Trip", a survival RPG. It was an assignment for uni but I had loads of fun with it regardless. Maybe one day I'll release that demo to the public...

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Farming simulator games and OCs! I've been making original characters for as long as I can remember. I've never been able to stick to comics or writing long enough to share my OCs in those ways. Farming games took up a lot of my time as a child, mostly the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory games. Not much has changed as I still play Stardew Valley regularly, haha.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Understanding time constraints. I'm a very ambitious perfectionist to the point I've failed multiple classes in my life due to not submitting things that weren't up to my standard. It took a year but I'm in a much better place now and I've learnt many things since then. I mostly just want to have fun, honestly!

Not as big but if I have time, I'll try to compose some BGM mysekf. I always feel a little bad for using other people's work, even if it's completely free to use. 8')

No matter what, I'll be happy with submitting something I put effort in, you know?

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi, I'm Michael / gruebite. I'm a professional software developer (ML, cloud infra), and do gamedev on the side.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I have not participated in previous jams. I have more time available, and one of my goals is to join more game jams.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I grew up with Rogue and it was one of the main motivators for learning programming. I tend to like open-ended simulations and strategy: Rimworld, Mount & Blade, Minecraft are some of my current favorites.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Yes, most of what I've made has been in jams or prototypes. I've worked with SDL, Unity, Godot, and Love2D. My Itch games have used PICO and SDL.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love games, especially as an artistic medium. Other things I am passionate about are learning, cooking, chess, backpacking, traveling, and teaching.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Prototype another idea and mentor others. :)

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello, my name is Ovais and I'm 27 years old and I enjoy drawing, programming, and video games so it only made sense to try and put those passions together and build my own game - which I've been working on for about the last 3 years. I currently work as a software dev/ business analyst in a completely different industry so I do what game dev I can on my free time.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I have not joined the last one - actually this is my first ever game jam and my reason for joining is to 1) take a small break from a game I've been working on, 2) to start becoming more involved in the indie game dev community, and 3) try to start making a name for myself in this community

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I love God of War as a series for its amazing story and I also really enjoyed the mmo genre, playing things like Silkroad Online, Tera, 9dragons, and Runescape. Lately I've lately been playing league here and there. Mmos really got the idea in my head that I'd love to make my own game because of the friends I made when I ran one of the strongest guilds on the server in silkroad lol

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've worked exclusively in Unity for about three years and my current project is a tower defense style game called TIDE. I also made the card game uno in unity just to see how fast i could implement it (took me about 3 days for a single player with 3 *dumb* AI)

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Along with my answer in #1, I really enjoy reading the One Piece manga atm. The world building and story is just soooo good. I really enjoy trying to crack the mysteries that Oda has written into his world 🤩

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Pretty much #2 - But I'd also like to see how much I've learned from working on TIDE and how quickly I can create a relatively simpler project. Plus - it's always nice to have something you can say you've finished. So I look forward to working on something smaller, but to the end.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi there! My name is Kayla, Computer Science student at moment. I really enjoy gaming, anime, and cartoons mainly. I'm from Brazil, so not native english speaker, and trying to experiment with game development as a potential career in the future.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No, this is my first jam. I'm joining because i want to learn more about game development and develop my programming skills.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I would say that civilization V, Celeste, Persona 5, the Tekken, and the borderlands series are my favorites at the moment, at least they are the ones that i sank more hours in. I wouldn't say that an specific inspired me, i've been playing all kind of games since i was a child and i think that the presence of games in my life is what really inspired me.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Not at all. I do have some experience with c++ mainly, though i don't have any really major project. This game is my biggest project so far.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Games of course. I enjoy all kinds of games from tabletops to videogame(though i'm not that good in any), but mainly RPGs, turn-based strategy and fighting games.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

My goals are to learn more about game development and improve my programming skills mainly. But doing at least a base for a real piece of software is a more concrete goal.
