I almost rage quit on the cubes, but I'm glad I didn't! The button interplay and the snarky narrator writing was great! Great SCOTT! Now reading the comments I didn't know there was a wrench?! Where? I was throwing boxes at it, trying to spin it clockwise - counter clockwise etc and after the nukes I gave up. Great though!
We play-tested the cubes in order to maximize frustration just before rage quitting, thanks for confirming that players will usually persevere ;)Sorry about the wrench, it was a last-minute addition and there were some "issues" with audio and such that made it really hard to figure out on your own. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the lovely feedback and thanks for playing!
This was an absolute blast to play! Your use of UI was creative fun and comical. I did stumble a bit with the wheel on the outside of the train. The illumination of the cubes was fantastic. I did not see the connection to the clipboard though. Great fun! I hope you plan to continue developing it.
Oh thank you very much, what a lovely comment! The wheel can only be fixed with a wrench. There is no connection with the clipboard, it's just there to give you hope there is an answer (hint: you always succeed on the 3rd try, we just wanted a reason to make people pick up cubes off the floor in frustration).
Good control room, I like how every button did something a little different and eventually you got moving. Similar to my game, but multiplied quite a bit. The train sound pull felt really good. The cubes were an absolute PITA. Too small to really grab after falling and I'm not color blind, but a few looked like they overlapped quite a bit. I also got to the fire wheel, turned one way, tried the other, I couldn't figure it out. Nice levels outside, cool serious shit warp speed.
Thanks for your lovely feedback! The cubes are intentionally annoying ;) The wheel needs to be fixed with a wrench (we had intended to repeat the instructions which may have been hard to hear but... lack of time hehe). We also plan on updating the game in the future to address some of these issues.
Cool idea. When the train stopped and there is a fire I couldn't figure out what to do. The narrator said something when twisting the gear but I didn't hear and was not sure how to get it out. Blocks to start also took me 3 tries. Liked the back to the future reference. Good job.
Thanks! You need a wrench to fix it :) We really should have repeated the instructions after awhile. Blocks always take 3 tries - the clipboard is a distraction ;)
This was by far one of my favorite games. The little honk and other sound effects on hitting the correct button was funny, the throwing of the blocks onto the floor was just frustrating enough to be comical and the railsOS had the perfect touch of Marvin from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Good job. I liked the presentation and kind of reminded me of I Expect You To Die. That said, after the cubes were popped out to the floor the 3rd time it lose me a bit. I also was glitched out of the train if I tried moving while holding the clipboard.
Thanks for the feedback and compliment!
If you want to try again: after the cube puzzle it should tell you to toot the horn but it's possible some other sound effect was playing so that you couldn't hear the instructions. Regarding the clipboard glitch, we definitely didn't test that case. If you end up outside the train, you can usually move around until you are falling, then it will fade to black and teleport you back inside.
We definitely needed some more time for QA before release hehe ;)
Disclaimer: my friends made this. Also, spoilers.
Fun concept. I liked the horn. It could have been more clear when I ended the game by destroying the planet.
Fun concept. I laughed out loud at a couple of segments (when I realized there were more buttons than directions and the first time the cubes popped out), but by the 3rd time picking up the cubes off the floor I was pretty over that punchline. I got to Deja Vu and the directions seemed to stop. I wasn't really sure where to go from there. I could see this being fleshed out into a full comedic escape-room style game. Well done!
Aww so nice, thank you for the compliments!
The cubes on the floor was a point of contention internally - we were deliberately trying to piss players off a bit, also since the game is so short. We may have gone a bit overboard in that regard. BTW you can also use laser pointers to pick up the cubes if you don't want to bend down to pick them up :)
After you get to Deja Vu you have to "deliver the packages" (I won't tell you how but it's not too hard to figure out). Somehow that voice instruction doesn't get played properly - we implemented a bug fix for it but our final submission was 2 minutes before deadline so we didn't have time to build + test the fix :( If you want to try again, it's a "happy" ending worth the show ;)
