Really liked the game. Is there any resource you could share for how to achieve the looks of the game you made ? I really like the cartoony / cell-shaded look you have for the game.
I am glad that you liked it ! To achieve the look of the game I used an asset called "Flat Kit: Toon Shading and Water" , here is the link to the asset .
probably the best art style in the jam, interactions are well made. Super polished experience! Great job!
Absolutely loved the art style and the imaginative environment! Great work!
If you find some time this weekend, please check out our game “Starship Minis” and leave a comment to let us know what you think! https://itch.io/jam/vr-jam-2021/rate/1145490
Thanks and congrats on completing the jam!!
Amazing mechanic! The "a-ha" moment I had when I realised I could shoot the toothpicks and use them as grapples was super satisfying. Then doing it was even more exciting.
Coming from recently playing Boneworks, I have to say I also really enjoyed your climbing mechanic which was far less motion-sickey than theirs... haha.
Also the graphics and cute little narrative was a really nice touch keeping me going "RIP ___ 'The Thirsty' " really got me.
The only two changes which came to mind were (1) I could only grab the bow with my right hand, but always wanted to hold it in my left which was a tiny bit inconvenient and (2) it would have been sweet to find the mechanics naturally instead of having the text explanation on the wall, as it felt a little too spoon feedy--especially as the mechanic actually felt incredibly intuitive.
Honestly, this game really makes me wonder why this mechanic hasn't been used before. But hey, maybe it'll be a key part of your breakthrough project.
Can't wait to see what you make next!
Amazing art style game, really well done! I love the way how you need to use bow and arrows in different way for cotninue!! Also the story written the sheets is good too!!
Not sure why the game is not loading for me. I use HTC Vive.
I have steam VR running before I opened the .exe file
Sorry for the inconvenience, this was my first time experimenting with a build that other users will execute. I think the issue comes from the project settings.
Looks really good, very satisfying to shoot the bow and arrow. The only complaint I have is the climbing feels like to much of a hassle if you fall. Other than that great job
Thanks for the feedback. Indeed, there are many people complaining about the difficulty and the punishing aspect of falling. This is something I will work on next time !
Impressive! I like the shader and the creative use of bow and arrows. Great work! Although I appreciate the work in giving it a story, my only complaint would be, that there was a bit too much to read. :)
Thank you for your feedback, glad to see that you liked the shader and bow system. Considering the story, this is the first time I wrote stories and I also think that there was sometimes too many to read on the different pages. Lesson learned ! Next time, fewer letters !
Great work! Probably one of the most imaginative uses of a Bow and Arrow in VR. Looks, and sounds great as well, my only complaint is that some of the climbing may have been a bit too punishing if you fall.
Thank you ! I'm glad you liked the Bow and Arrow system. The last climbing part with the soda ocean is indeed difficult, the soda was supposed to kill the player and make him respawn at the beginning ! I was short in time so I improvised something
Loved it! Absolutely fantastic looking game! Great shader and interactivity! Cool little story to follow along with as well! So sad it ended so soon!
Thank you for your kind comment ! I wanted to add more, but I had no time left ! I am very glad that you loved the overall look !
