The music's nice (kind of reminds me of The new Zeldas and OOT's Title screen). I like the art style a lot and the minigames are alright.
For the minigames I don't know if you're supposed to keep the bar big until the time runs out, or if you're supposed to make the bar as big as the ring for the rubbish piles minigame.
Also is there a way to just drop unwanted items or do I have to keep giving them to the girl? I kept getting string and sticks that filled up my inventory so I didn't progress very far (couldn't start the fire).
The dialogue for giving the girl random items was pretty funny.
Overall I like this game.
You can open the inventory with Q, then click on any item to open its description and get the option to discard it! And the rubbish pile minigame is by making the bar as big as possible, yeah. Sorry these things weren't clear enough.
This seems like the opening of an RPG I would love to play in full! Without retreading over what other comments have already said, I love the whole atmosphere of it, with the music and the pretty terrain really immersing me. The main issues with the game are only subtle ones, such as being unable to tell when your inventory is full or why you can't perform a certain action. Overall though, really cool experience and stands out from the rest of the submissions!
What a vibe of an experience. The art style and music makes for a really nice atmosphere. I loved the mixed media art style, it made it feel like I was in a collage. I had a hearty chuckle repeatedly giving gifts of string. I was a little confused by the trash collection UI, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to mash keys or time them when the bar ran out.
Trash collection is by mashing, yeah. Ik it wouldn't have hurt to include some sort of simple indication for it, but yeah. Happy to see you enjoyed messing around with the gifts :)
absolutely fantastic game, great story and art. i had the misty koi problem too so i quit the game and restarted from the continue button and the game gave me the scarf for that part so i got past it. really well done.
Thank you so much! Good to know everything seemed to work out for you :) Does that mean you actually made it all the way to the end??
yeah, i was able to make it to the end.
Beautiful style, and great writing! Unfortunately I got stuck trying to find a hook, so I couldn't progress. It'd be nice if the minigames were a bit less repetitive, but I understand the limitations of the jam timeframe. I was quite intrigued by the story, and the music was wonderful. Really liked this one!
Aaaaa, really wish I'd made some items easier to find just to make the game quicker/more accessible. The hook is actually an item called Broken Necklace, so maybe you got it without realizing that was it? Regardless, thank you soo much for the nice comments ^^
No worries! I'm sure we all have some things we'd like to change about our games in retrospect.
Thanks for the tip about the necklace :)
nice looking game. it reminds me of the Okami game
That's some really high praise haha. Thank you!
I really liked your game's visual style. The hand-drawn sprites on the 3d background are very cute!
This was really charming and the character interactions had me really invested! I love the music too! Unfortunately, on the day before the boat is supposed to leave, I tried for 15 minutes and could not catch a Misty Koi for the life of me! I assume it was in the lake above the hill with all the cute crabs but I could be wrong. Really great work though! Would love to revisit this at a later date.
Thank you so much for the feedback!! The Misty Koi is meant to be there, yeah, but the drop rate is admittedly somewhat iffy and I didn't have the time to fix it. Iirc it's about 15-20%, so you should catch one if you try long enough, but I understand if it's too much of a chore :x
A very unique take on the jam for sure! Music was amazing and made feel the same emotion as the character. The art was very unique too! Good job on this, it was amazing!
What a unique tone for this jam! I like the 2D art here too. Nice work!
Thank you!! Glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
Good one! Not too many story / character based games in this jam, good to see some variety. I liked the story but couldn't figure out how to make a fire? Would give it another go if I did :)
Thank you soo much for giving it a try! During any sections requiring you to collect materials, you can head back to the shelter for a dialogue prompt that will tell you what you need + hints on where to obtain it. I realize the game could have more clarity on this, so I may post a guide on where to collect everything needed for progression if more people find it difficult to do so.
That makes sense, I'll give it another go as I missed that prompt on the shelter!
