Nice and simple. The assets are really good for a 3 hour game.
Whenever I caught a criminal, they would walk into me and block me
Don't know if that was intentional or not but it worked well :)
Absolutly intentional :) - I originally wanted some building where it would have been really relevant that caught criminals push you around while you can push around citizens (which is btw a fun thing to do already)
I won ! Great idea.
I would suggest to add Collider on houses so pnj can't go through them.
Yep, good idea :) - definitly gonna add that to the feature list
I really struggled with the movement around the criminals and found it exciting and kinda fitting. Trying to wrangle more criminals with handcuffed criminals already around you would be difficult.
I like the mechanics quite a bit. Good Job!
Thanks - I was hoping that idea would work for some people. I set the colliders for the criminals to trigger so they could slip through the crowd and through buildings but for the caught criminals it kinda make sense that they would obstruct you. Kinda was afraid it would just be frustrating when you don't bring them to jail sometimes...
I admit at first I was confused when the criminals followed me after I contacted them. But it made sense eventually. I thought I was going to lose by being surrounded by crooks. :P
Nice gameplay and I liked the concept. Good work.
Pretty good idea actually.... maybe instead of just slowly walking behind you, I could make them circle around the player if they get too close and if a player is surrounded by crooks some will escape or something similar :)
Thanks!
Killed it with the visuals and music!
Was quite fun to actually try to scribble something together instead of searching the library :) might not look or sound as clean but more in the spirit of the jam !
I like the fact that good citizens are turned into criminals and that you have to help them ! I won without doing that much effort, maybe you could tweak some gameplay elements to make it more challenging or to create an "emergency" situation at the end ?
Great work, I hope to see your work in more jams :)
Thanks :) Yep, at first I thought about just "killing" them but that was boring so I gave them "money" and when they loose all money they keep rolling a dice till they turn :). There is also a city wealth display but since it didn't do anything I deactivated it.
Emergency situation is a great idea - I originally intended a jail break scenario but couldn't really find a good condition for it and then I went out of time :( . Maybe I could use the wealth display or something like "if the cop is away from prison too long there is a chance prisoners escape"
Thanks for your feedback!
Good ideas :)
Honestly kinda charming, the fact the criminals blatantly walked over prison tickled me, they ain't got no time to go around.
Thanks... yeah, they don't respect the law at all, walking through buildings and jaywalking the streets like they own the place... I originally intended for them to just break free once the officer is too far and give them a chance to escape prison too but then the 3 hour mark beckoned. I could've added a few more features if I just used some assets but I really wanted to do everything myself within the jam for once...
The first criminal I touched, followed me back to jail. But, after that, I kept having issues.
Thanks for playing - I think you started right at the moment when I uploaded an update. Try again and it should work now
