Amazed at how you wrangled this into rpgmaker wow

Cool arcade game, I wasn't sure what to do after I opened all the cabinets and the ghosts liked to periodically destroy me but it's a nice fast paced rush around the different locations and mashing some buttons.

I found the ghosts quite punishing since they had the same speed as the player. If they decide to corner you in there isn't much agency, but I like the tileset and overall atmosphere.

I didn't realize that I actually don't need to steal all of the sake. I just need to steal as much as the gourd can contain. The ghost can be annoying sometimes but I think that's the challenge of this game so I guess I shouldn't complain there XD.

I streamed the game here around minute 43 if anyone wants to watch:

Nice RPG Maker game!

Very nice! My best time was around 26 seconds.

The ghost behaviour is a bit unpredictable (even though they are aimed at you for the most part), so sometimes you really are at the whims of them and the rooms' layout.

I've never heard of randomly generated levels in RPGMaker before - must've been hard to pull off, hence the long loading times. But I think it was a great work overall!

Fun game! I really like the artstyle and sound design, and the overall idea of a pac-man styled game is brilliant!

The only issue I had was in how aggressive them ghosts can be. Sometimes they wander aimlessly, but most of the time they seem to be homing in on my location, which doesn't pair well with the hit stun if standing still.

hi: this is crazy

i feel like the usual (functioning) person who does not constantly play random rpgmaker games is not able to parse how funky this is for such a short game but WOWZA! that's sixteen nine! i'd heard tales of a widescreen yume nikki but your runner mod here works really well. the title screen has nice effects and the gameplay is very distinct for an rpgmaker with custom ui elements and everything. super cool

Developer

thanks a lot, but the credit goes also (mostly) to the creator of the patch I use for the 16:9 : https://bingshan1024.github.io/steam2003_maniacs/ and yes  I like to do complex things on rpg maker 2003, fighting with the limitations (and the many bugs) is very cool !!

(btw yume nikki widescreen is finish you can check it on my profil)

Cute tomatoes and ghosts! Short but fun! Loading is longer than expected, what's the problem?

Developer

in fact I use rpg maker 2003 which is absolutely not designed for random level generation. I use the maniac patch for that. During the loading time I tripled the fps (the speed of the game is linked to the number of fps) and even with this it's still slow. I could have done it faster but with only three days I couldn't do better. If you are interested I can put a version of the game without the black screen to better understand what is going on behind!

Nice game; reminds me of pac-man

Developer

thank you! indeed, pac man is the main inspiration!

This is such a cute and energetic game (why wouldn't it be? There's our strong and drunk Japanese Goblin)
Mashing the Z & X buttons is oddly satisfying as a game mechanic!

By the way, regarding the application, I don't know if it is just in my device/case, but it seems to not run well in Windows 10; Suika forces herself to go upwards without any user intervention.

This issue was immediately fixed by running the app for Windows XP compatibility (as I saw that it's made with RPG Maker 2003) and it finally run well

Developer

a friend told me the same thing, and the bug went away when he unplugged his controller. maybe you had your controller plugged in?

Happy and excited when playing! The ghosts are moving fast but I move faster (delighted)
