Really cool art. Liked the glowing lava effect. Character animation felt a lot like TABS. Took me a bit to realize that my health was represented by the glowing orbs. The game-play needed some work. I'm all for live die repeat if it is quick or you have something to do in the loop that makes it fun. But just telling your avatar to stand somewhere and watching as he inevitably dies doesn't really hook my attention right off the bat.
Way too much of a stretch to me lols the way the ascii is well I'm not sure on this one it's up to the judges imo oh well neat game I think if it was just ascii with no real 3D modeling and blending it woulda been more of a hit for the theme! :)
Pretty epic! I'm not sure if it's fully in text though - the landscapes looked like models with ASCII textures. The gameplay felt a bit clumsy, and it took me a while to realize I was only in charge of movement, not fighting. The clumsy feeling probably comes from the fact that the character waving his weapon around and enemies coming at him didn't seem to have anything to do with each other, and the enemy packs often died one by one, starting from the one who was furthest away from player. The upgrade system was nice, though some of the skills didn't seem to have anything to do with the gameplay. The game starts out impossible, but upgrading only the attack speed stat it came pretty easy. I think upgrading the attack range to 60 broke the game though - the character would rarely attack enemies despite them being right on him. I closed the game and clicked on start/new game, but it only continued with the stats I had. I didn't finish the game alive, but I managed to drag my corpse to the end a few times, which apparently raised the difficulty level.
Well i didn't expect this from a Text only game... But it's pretty cool.
Start is a bit slow, I seem to die all the time, have a few extra points, and then upgrade a few stats and die at exactly the same point again. So didn't feel like I could make progress...
Graphics are reaaaaly good tough! That's the one thing that wants me to continue playing.
