Really love it! The artwork for the background, the UI, the sprites is all fantastic and  really visually pleasing. The music is brilliant and really adds to the game in an exciting way. I loved the brain in a jar spider tank, and seeing it chase me in all it’s animated glory made me wish the level had been a bit longer and a bit harder so I could enjoy it a bit longer. Overall the mechanics work really well but I did find one bug where the game closed when I fell off the first platform ( yes I fell off the first one, I suck at games ). Finally the win state congratulations message felt a little bit disappointing given how beautiful and exciting the game is!

Overall though, really nice work.

WOW. I instantly fell in love with this the moment I opened it. The art, the menu, the UI and the music just took my breath away. I literally sat there vibing away for 5 minutes before I played!

I was a bit confused at first because my initial reaction is to click the menu and it wouldn't work but I worked out I had to press enter. Your page says that jump is space but it's the up arrow key. I found the movement very smooth and easy to get used to. I loved the art the most, animations are really beautiful. I think that the character is a bit too fast from the boss at the top as I could just run away so easily so I had to slow down to be able to admire the beauty of those big boys! The last brain one being my favourite!

Absolute gem of a game, loved it! :D

Very nice main menu and I really liked the way you interacted with it but felt it wasn't very intuitive and using W/S or the mouse instead or as well would have been much better, I also really like the music for the game and gives it a fun vibe but I thought it was a little too quiet.

I don't like how the game close itself when you die and felt as if the you've died popup could have been a little nicer and the same goes for the winning popup.

The running animation for the player is very nice and smooth but felt as if jump and/or falling could have used an animation and a SFX and although you don't get to stand around very much an idle animation would also have been good.

The jumping levels seem a little odd but are fun and the running levels are good and I quite like the animations for the big guys chasing you and the change in gameplay from level to level makes it quite nice and it doesn't feel too repetitive.

I found this game to be really fun and liked the main menu, the music also helped with this but feel as though the jumping levels felt out of place, they also made for a nice change of pace between levels. However the game could have done with some SFX and the pop ups weren't very nice but besides that a good game.

This is a very in-depth review! Firstly, thank you for taking the time, and for all the praise you give.

The idea was to keep all the controls to keyboard input only, but I see where you are coming from in regards to the main menu. Someone else has mentioned this, and we will take it into consideration next time. The game closing itself is something that has also been said a couple of times, and it is something we have all said we will think about on improving for our next project.

More animations and SFX is something we would have liked to have added in the future! There is an idle pose, but I agree - a full animation would have been a nice detail.

Differentiating the levels into separate time zones was something we wanted to do straight away, so we're glad it did not feel repetitive to play. It was our way of introducing variability.

Overall, this is some great feedback! Once again, thank you for taking the time to play and review the game. We're glad you enjoyed it!

The art style was absolutly amazing and the music fit so well.

Each level felt unique and seemed to get progressivly harder as it went on, displayed with the increased speed of the enemys that follow you. However, even on the higher levels they never seemed to pose a major threat to you as the player.

Developer

Thank you! We managed the difficulty in advancing stages with the placement of the platforms and the speed of the enemies. After a couple other comments saying the same thing, we've made note that increasing the speed of the enemies is advised and we would tweak such features were we to continue developing the game.

However, thank you for the kind words!

Loved it.

It was very fun to play.

Loved the music, the hair flowing looked amazing and the level diversity was quite cool. Lots of new stuff but working together nicely.

Only thing is when I died the whole game crashed on me. But I had enough fun to start it again so... :)

Developer

Thank you for the praise!

We've noticed a lot of comments about the game closing on a game over, so it's definitely an improvement we could make for the future, and something we would work on in the next steps.

However, we're glad you enjoyed the game! Thank you for playing! :)

the art, aniumations and music for this game are amazing. massive props. and its amazing the level diversity u have when only using the same level design. good job

Developer

Thank you! Differentiating the levels into separate time zones was something we wanted to do straight away, so we're glad it came together in the end, and you liked the result!

Animations were really on point for this and although the idea was simple it played really well. Didn't run into any bugs and the theme was great. Good job.

Loving the artstyle of this game especially the way the player characters hair flows in the wind. The game play is also very easy to understand and the level design looked really cool as well. Overall great job :)

Developer

Thank you for all the praise! We are glad you enjoyed playing our game. :)

The graphics are really nice and the different themes for each level are really nice

I also like the transition in each level between a doodle jump style gameplay and the escape the monster platform game experience. Was a bit confused when the menu was operated by arrow keys and enter rather than a mouse click however it works smoothly.

Overall, nice game :)

Developer

Art and music are amazing!!!!! Took me a min to figure out it to use the arrow keys and enter and despite the game closing when you die its really good overall!!

Developer

Thank you! The controls are stated on the Game Page as well as the video trailer on the same page, but the game closing is definitely an improvement we could make for the future.

Thank you for the review!

Art style is a sort of all over the place and the game could use some explaining and could do without kicking you out of the game wehn you fail a level and instead just replay the one you failed, and  the game controls well and feel good to play

Developer

Firstly, thank you for playing our game!

The controls are stated on the Game Page as well as the video trailer on the same page. As for the art style, we tried to keep a consistent pixel sprite style between the art team. There are different themes - steampunk, dieselpunk, and cyberpunk - to simulate different time zones in advancing worlds. In terms of the game closing when you lose, it is something we have all said we will take into consideration on how to fix this for our next project.

However, I'm glad you enjoyed playing the game!

I liked it but there was a lack of narrative for. The art was really cool and the idea as a whole but it almost felt too easy

Developer

Thank you for your praise! A story brief is outlined on our Game Page. We have also increased the difficulty in advancing stages with the placement of the platforms and the speed of the enemies. If we decided to add more levels, they would have undoubtedly been all the more difficult! This is something we could look into in the future.

A nice art style for this game, the vertical platforming was pretty cool and i liked the idea of escaping bosses. However these didn't feel overly challenging and it might be worth bumping up their speed a little so they can actually catch you!

Overall a really cool game

Developer

We have increased the difficulty in advancing stages with the placement of the platforms and the speed of the enemies. If we decided to add more levels, they would have undoubtedly been all the more challenging! This is something we would look into - increasing the speed is definitely a way to increase the difficulty and tension, I agree!

However, thank you for playing! We're glad you enjoyed it.

This was a very fun game too play. The music was exciting and the art was amazingly designed and animated. The bosses' and player's designs very unique and imaginative, and the backgrounds all represented their distinct settings well. Only small grips where that the options menu is still work in progress, however this doesn't take away from the game-play experience, and the 2nd vertical level was mostly black/very dark grey platforms on a black background, however this just adds to the challenge factor. Overall Great Game.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you very much for the kind words!

The options menu would have been our next step in improving them game. Visibility of the platforms was something we would also work on - however, I like the idea that it could be a way to further amp difficulty!

Thank you for the review, and for taking the time to play our game!

Really satisfying gameplay! Did make me confused on whether it is for a phone or desktop, but it didn't ruin the experience. Though vertical levels could've used some clear goal marker. But overall, pretty original take on a platformer! Nice work on the sprites.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! There are portals at the top of the vertical levels, but if the player is directly underneath them to collide with it straight away, they move to the next room before it is shown on screen.

However, many thanks for the review - we are glad you enjoyed our game!

The art in this game is great! Gameplay feels sped up and floaty but oddly works. Love the horizontal levels especially running from different bosses. Very cool game

Developer

Thank you, we are glad you liked it! Controls are something we would look at tweaking for the future.

Submitted(+1)

I like how much the game keeps you on your toes! The switching between horizontal and vertical platforming is a very nice touch as well.

The art and animations are well put together and fluid, though it's worth setting a standard window /tilemap size early to avoid the mixing of more and less detailed sprites.

Other than that I had no issues, great job!

Developer

Thank you! Deciding on a window size early is a great idea, and definitely an improvement we will take forward with us for the future.

Thank you for the review!
