Did you start early?
We had a working character controller, so essentially a square that could jump around. We also had initial character ideas and some sketches, but all assets were made or sourced during the jam.

I found the platforming to be quite stiff, though it worked alright for what it was trying to accomplish. I liked the roping mechanic, and how that tied into the game's themes. The tutorial progression is smooth, introducing concepts one at a time and interspersing them with challenges, and utilizing all of them in the final boss. I liked that there was no health bar, instead only affecting your progression through the final boss, though that did mean that every hit was a setback, rather than an attempt to retry. The characters are cute, but their animation in-game felt a little disconnected from the gameplay. The sound design during the final cutscene was very good, but I expected more reactive sound effects during the rest of the game. The backgrounds are nice, but the environment felt pretty sparse for how little space the characters take up on-screen.

Really loved your characters! They are super cute and well animated. ^^ The lasso concept was really unique, too. Felt like that mechanic was pretty cohesive throughout the whole experience. The boss fight was fun, felt a little long, but was worth it for the cutscenes at the end. ;) I did notice some polish things, like dialogue boxes staying open when pausing, or buttons not responding sometimes, but overall really fun to play and good level design! Nicely done!

Had a lot of fun with this entry! The boss fight specifically was a nice little bullet hell and the mechanic of capturing enemies was very unique. I had a little trouble actually pulling off the circling around enemies on a keyboard before the string resets, but by the end it was getting more manageable. The art is very nice! I also really like how well the little notes fill in the story with so few lines.

My one issue was with the fact that the camera scrolls with the player vertically on the platforming sections, I found myself floating above stuff I couldn't see more than I would like.

Overall though, great job!

I really love the animated sprites in this game, even more so than the nice reward scene at the end. The environments are good, but could probably use a little more detail and smoother looking platform edges. I would also like to see a text font with a bit more whimsy to it to fit the tone of the game.

The controls feel very good, especially for a jam-made game. The game does start making some big demands of these precise controls fairly early on however. I would prefer if it focused less on the jumping and a bit more on the rope mechanics which I found to be very well implemented and fun to use. They're utilized very effectively in the boss fight, which is engaging, varied and has an excellent flow to the action. Would love to see more animations with the enemies involving the ropes if you have plans to continue development.

I like that there are alternative controls, but I also wish there was a way to set keys. I pressed "e" instead of "f" a few times and ended up having to find my way back to the platform with the note all over again.

The soundtrack is pleasant and fits the scenes well. More sounds for the various player actions could be a good addition.

An enjoyable platformer experience. Solidly built and the rope mechanic in particular feels like something that has a lot of potential. Would definitely play again if the game is expanded upon.

This was a lot of fun to play. The "spirit capture" mechanic is something I haven't seen before, and it fits very well both with the platformer mechanics and with the horny theme. I'm impressed. The ending of the boss fight also made me chuckle.

Also, I love the character designs! It's a great style.

I do love good platformers. While it didn't bother me much, the position of the camera made it little hard to see what's underneath you.

Having a boss fight in the end was nice and the ending reward was great too.

I really loved it! Sadly the cutscene had some issues and the buttons didn't work but I really liked the game and the boss battle was really fun and clever! Plus I really love how you avoid using health, very smart for the boss UwU

Really cool concept! I love it!

A few issues that might be useful:

  • Camera control is uncomfortable. It’s a good idea to have a bit more view downwards (maybe by pressing down key?) as often player needs to drop down and it’s not visible where exactly. Another issue is that the camera is always centered on the Player character - it usually might a bit more convenient to have “margin” for camera like here https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/scroll-back-the-theory-and-practice-of-cameras-in-side-scrollers#h.elfjc4ap4hpe
  • [BUG] When the boss was already tied up once, I didn’t know what to do (red color actually means “avoid it” so I kept away from anchors) and tried to tie up once again - and it seems to have worked. Or were both legs supposed to be tied up in one go? –– tried a few times more, yes, one can tie all 4 lines in 1 round, but to attach them to anchors will need at least 2 rounds, because the platforms disappear.
  • [BUG] The “Next” button is unclickable in the (winning?) cutscene :) And nothing except ESC seem to work. (tried three times - one without the bug above and still no forward)
  • Wasn’t there supposed to be a health bar? Because it doesn’t seem like anything is hurting the Player character in any significant way, just stuns for a second (which might be a good moment to tie her up, but that’s outside of the current scope, I guess ;))
