Great visuals and a cool concept. I wish there was a little more handholding to get me started in the game but maybe I'm just too dumb haha.

Developer(+1)

Youre not dumb dont worry. Some more tutorializing would've definitely helped. Youre absolutely right. Thanks for playing and leaving feedback!

I do have one bit of feedback. I felt that the aim smoothing was way too strong (I'd personally like to disable it). I liked the camera shake but I know some people get motion sickness. It would be nice to have options to adjust both of these features.

Developer(+1)

Thats useful!

Yeah right now im using a double boom arm setup to provide rotation lag. That value CAN be parameterized in the future. Same with the head bobbing.

Submitted(+1)

I was getting errors, unfortunately it didn't work for me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying!

How do I eat the mushroom?

Developer

I shouldve added a psychedelic tripping feature LOL

Submitted(+1)

A lot of quality here!

Developer

That means a lot. Thanks man!

Damn, I really wanted to play this game. Unfortunately I kept getting a fatal error within 30 seconds to a minute, the most I was able to do was water the beanstalk twice. I won't rate this game as I could only play a portion of it, but from the little I've played I'd like to say the graphics and the atmosphere are top notch. Loved the smooth, distant jazz and the sound of running water away far away.

Developer (1 edit)

Oh darn! I packaged it for dx12 so I think that might be what you're seeing here. Thanks for playing regardless!

Submitted(+1)

I wish I had seen the lil froggy int he screenshot, I feel like I managed to win multiple ways? Like I raised the beanstalk up way way high and then also got the second bouncy mushroom, was really surprised to find the game had ended when I jumped on it… what was all that extra height for? Very impressed with how smooth the movement was.

Personally I think you do yourself a disservice with the pixilation filter, but that’s a matter of taste I suppose. Looks great either way :) Personally would’ve really loved an FOV option but it wasn’t too bad for me. Really a nice entry though I’m curious how speedrunning it actually would go - is it possible to keep track of where the “water” spot is and just toss the buckets down from up above? I think it may have been more fun (and intuitive) if, as long as you got somewhere near the base of the beanstalk with the water it would grow. Can definitely respect the decision not to.

Developer(+1)

Yes yes yes! Absolutely. All of this feedback is true. You hit the nail on the head completely.
There are 2 different ways to beat it (3 if you count the bucket speedrun strat haha).

An options menu would've been good I agree. I also agree with you that having a generous hitbox for the water woulve made the experience a little bit more streamlined.

Thanks for the feedback! Super useful!

Wow… quite an incredible game. The lighting and graphical styling is simply spectacular. Gameplay felt incredibly smooth and responsive.

The only critique I have is it may have overstayed its welcome a little bit. Towards the end, I started to feel less excited when I discovered the next bucket, knowing I'd have to drop back down to the bottom.  As my run stretched to 14 minutes, the prospect of having to revisit lower sections became less appealing, making the experience feel a bit like eating a whole chocolate cake in one sitting, incredibly delicious and so much to appreciate, but maybe it was a bit too much for one sitting.

Needless to say, incredible art direction. It played much more like an artistic narrative piece than it did a speedrun game however, and I felt more inclined to explore the world and appreciate allthe textures and beauty than I did to rush through it. The sound design was also perfectly balanced and mastered. Phenomenal work!!

Developer(+1)

Ah this is the perfect feedback! Very detailed! Thank you for writing this out.

But yeah I totally agree with these sentiments. Playtesting goes a loooong way!!

Cheers my friend! Thanks for taking the time to play and write this out. I really do appreciate it. I hope to see you around in other jams!

Damn i didn't expect to find a game like this in a gam jam...

Very obviously crazy high quality product, gameplay is a little bland for my liking but jesus you can only do so much...

Very beautiful game with a very unique and relaxing atmosphere!!

Developer

Thank you my friend, i really tried to get the theme and aesthetic done well. Thank you for your feedback!

Very good game feel, great theme fit, beautiful aesthetics, nice gameplay. Great job! I also used unreal engine for my submission (my first UE game, i'd be very happy if you could try it😅) so i'm truly impressed by the graphics :)

Developer

Yes ill check it out my friend. Thank you for the kind words. It was a lot of work solo.

Thank you. Good job again 😊

This game was amazing! The gameplay had a lot of wonder and fun, the visuals were immaculate, and it was just an overall nice take on the theme! This has gotta make it among the top games for sure.

Submitted(+1)

Also wth more people need to rate this it can't go unnoticed.

Developer

That means so much for you to say! Thank you my friend!

This guy is crazy!!

Very fun, very impressive. How you made all of these models in 4 days astonishes me. Sadly had to quit, too much bobbing for my brain, I feel a little sick.

Developer(+1)

This is good feedback for me for patch 1.1, thanks my friend!

Submitted(+1)

This is pretty incredible. I thought I had done okay for only being a three day jam, but I don't think I've ever played an FPS with such smooth movement. It was satisfying. I really enjoyed exploring the environment and taking it all in. I don't know what inspired it, but you are a creative individual, and you crafted a pretty cool experience! Impressive.

Developer

Awesome love to hear it. I played your game quite a bit and got a 45 second run last night!

Submitted(+1)

Woah. So is that you at the top of the leaderboard?? I have no idea how you got 45 seconds.. I felt I had a pretty perfect run, but only 47 seconds. I even took a shortcut by bypassing a platform in the outdoor area, so kudos to you. I don't know how you did it, or if anyone will beat it! :D

Developer

Ive found a lot of small optimizations. Also a big glitch but its too inconsistent to go for.
So far I'm down to 43 seconds.

Developer

Where is this platform outside? You must show me!

Submitted(+1)

I assumed that you are already doing that skip! And you probably are.

When you first enter the outdoor area the intention was for the player to jump to the first platform, then to the base platform below it.
If you have enough momentum and you utilize the coyote time (press jump a little after walking off the edge) you can make it to the base platform without jumping to the first one I mentioned.

Again, with your time you are most likely already doing this without thinking about it :P

The Bean must grow.
