Cool game idea I like the pac-man kind of vibe.

The movements felt sluggish at times maybe having a more snappy and exact movement system will help make the player feel like they are in perfect control of the character.

the ghosts work really well and add a nice layer of difficulty and need to be aware of where the enemies are to make sure you don't die.

the feedback is really well done like when you collect food having a jingle helps build up that player feedback system.

Overall I like the concept and design!

Thank you for the feedback! I'll play around with the movement to see if I can get it a bit more responsive.

This game is really cute! I love the assets used and the SFX was very fitting. The player moved a bit slow to my liking, but it did add to the difficulty of the game! The ghost movements were well done, and I feared getting caught when I got near one. There are some charming elements to your game, and I think adding a rounded font and a cute background to the main menu would push this game further. Having a pause menu was a really nice touch too! Awesome job!

Thank you for playing and testing it out, and for the UI suggestions.  I think I'll speed up the player a bit and perhaps make the AI of the ghosts a little smarter so that it is challenging on level 1.

I really enjoyed this game! The mechanics reminded me a lot of pac-man which I liked since I used to be very good at it. I liked the song and sound effects. They were very fun and fit the vibe. The characters you chose were super cute as well! I liked how the game got more difficult but not impossible as you continued. I also liked how the song increased speed. I really liked the teleport crystals and used them a lot. I thought the difficulty was at a good level. I was able to make it through level 1 and level 2, and only died on level 3. For critique, I would have liked to have a second chance at level 3 (maybe a life system) before being sent all the way back to level 1, since being sent all the way back after all that work felt a bit demoralizing. I also think it would be good to add a quit button on the help screen.

Thanks a lot, Kristen, for the detailed feedback.  One question - for the lives, did you not get 3 lives?  It was supposed to give you 3 lives and only end the game after the third life.  I'll look into that.

I like the player model; it looks like a funny little creature. However, I feel the game volume is a bit too high for my liking. Regarding player movement, it feels a bit strange because when moving left and right, it seems like there's a circular movement with it. On a positive note, I really enjoy the mysterious song you've included in the game.

Developer

Thank you for reviewing!  You and another person commented on the volume.  I was curious about that - are you saying that relative to other games, the default level is too high, so you had to lower your system volume when other games didn't force you to do that.

Also, on the circular movement going left/right, are you referring to the curve it does as it changes direction?  Or were you actually seeing it continue to curve after you were holding left/right down?

Thanks again!

This may just be my computer but the volume was a bit loud for my liking. The gameplay itself was really fun, I liked the idea of a 2.5D pacman game. The player movement was very smooth. The enemies did get stuck when trying to chase you, like they wouldnt go around the obstacles so you could just get them to get stuck on a wall and move away. I liked the player feedback, the sounds implemented made you aware if you were doing something good or something bad. Good job on the game!

Developer

Thank you for trying it out and posting your comments!  I'm really interested in learning about two things you posted on, so I can fix them:

1) How did you get the enemies stuck?  Was there a certain set of steps you could do to cause that?  I haven't seen that happen (at least not in the final game), but I'd really like to fix that.

2) for the volume - another person mentioned that, too.  Is my default volume too high, so you had to lower your speaker volume, whereas other games didn't force you to do that?
