The game started off really well with the fluid animations, and the platform elements were really fun, but you could’ve implemented a hitstun or something similar for the skeletons. You had a lot of potions lying around tho so it’s not a big deal. I really like the jump “physics” too. I just had higher expectations for the “scary/spooky” vibe. I love platformers, I love spookiness in general, I was hoping these elements were mixed together in a better way. For a one week jam, tho, it was a great game!

Pixel art is top tier! I liked the off vibes of the game that were confirmed with the ending. The character controller was a bit difficult to get timing right, might want to tweak it a little bit so it is easier to play. Overall I enjoyed it! The platforming was good and challenging especially with the controls the way they are, the drive to get all the keys was good, I didn’t feel confused at any point what my objective was. Good work, looking forward to part 2!

Pixel animation on the character are pretty in this game, and the gameplay was pretty alright. Would say the blood on the screen felt a bit annoying and feel like it should been pixelized to match the pixel art-style. Also game could of used a block or a roll cause your pretty much always gonna get hit by the enemies.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You would have to do the combo attacks to stagger the enemy, and the blood effect is not pixelated because it's connected to pt 2 story so please stay tuned!

This was good! It's incredible how much you guys were able to make in just a week

Big fan of the backgrounds and man those animations were clean

Light on the horror side of things but the ending tease is enough to keep me in and it is supposed to be just a Part 1 after all

Simple concept but executed very well I hope you're happy with it cause I thought this was a great submission

Wow, you were really able to assemble quite a lot in a week! The game is a pretty feature-complete action-platformer, and it plays well from start to finish. The assets you used complement each other well and create a very nice retro theme for the game. It's obvious the extra hands on deck to work together ensured that this feels very fleshed out and features a nice sense of progression. Without spoiling much for other players, I was scratching my head at how the game fit into the jam, until the very humorous but dark ending, which gave me a good laugh and also made me appreciate the game's narrative setup more. Really Red should have just been content with all those empty boxes, huh? For constructive feedback, precision in platforming is really important, and finding the right balance of jumping mechanics between too much gravity and floatiness can be hard to eke out; I think it was a little bit on the latter. Some variety of hazards would be a cool addition too. I'm glad I played this through to the end!
