Simple and effective dungeon-crawler. The battery/lift mechanics as the objective to progress are really cool and make sense in the context of the level. Gotta say, there's a lot of potential in the graffiti mechanic. I like the idea that player navigation is facilitated by the player leaving their own signs and symbols. Quite innovative.

Thanks for submitting Shadow of Mine to the jam!

Many thanks! It's been amazing fun taking part and playing the submissions. The feedback has been helpful and I'm already looking forward to the next jam!

Wow the game is great ! It was fun and scary. I like the mechanics of spraying the walls to navigate trough this maze like mine. The aesthetic was nice as well. Well done!

The light mechanic was interesting on this one. I like how you had to continually make sure you could still see!

One bug made my walk speed really slow around level 4 so I couldn't continue, but I managed to walk around the mazes and place the tags. I found the tag use quite unique as I haven't seen that before!

Developer

Many thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

I have made changes to the stamina system for a future update as it seems to be unintuitive/not working properly so thanks for letting me know.

Really cool game. Created solid tension with the weeping angel mechanic. I liked the enemy design. Wasn't a fan of the fact that walking depleted stamina. Also not sure if this was intentional but jumping seems to cause me to regain chunks of stamina. Pretty fun game overall.

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it.

Yes I've heard the walking/stamina situation isn't well received, so that'll change in a future update.

Also the jumping/stamina situation was NOT intentional at all, so thanks for letting me know!

Good game. The gameplay was made in a cool way, I liked the animations of the enemies. It's interesting that the levels are generated. When climbing again I noticed that the passages were different. When strafeing, hand animations change too abruptly. I also caught a bug, when you get close to the wall, the player’s speed becomes very slow.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I just fixed the strafeing animations for a future update.

I couldn't replicate the bug you noticed though but I'm going to redo the wall meshes and colliders soon and will make sure I test for this.

Appreciate the report!

For such a simple concept this is a very very well executed game right here! Your monster scared the shiz out of me, not once, but at least three or more times! That’s some excellent execution!

My biggest issues with the game were… Currently, when the torch goes out, the player has a chance of being left in total darkness. This would be fine if this meant instant death for the player, but I had a run where my torch went completely out, yet the monsters never came for me (probably ran far enough away from them). This would have been fine if I has just enough ambient light to kinda make out the scene to some kind of navigation, but I was utterly blind, which kinda sucked. So, again, if the torch goes out completely, either the monsters should instantly kill the player, or the player should have just enough ambient light to navigate, but without protection from the monsters if they stumble across one in the dark.

I feel the stamina meter should only dictate if and for how long you can run. I don’t think your walking speed should be effected by the stamina meter. I’m sure this could be debated, though.

Over all, excellently made game! Wonderful job! And if you want the treat of watching this internet weirdo get jump scared by your creepy ass monsters, here’s the link to my stream of your game!

Thanks ObsidianBlk, and I was so pleased you played my game on your stream!

Really appreciate the comments and feedback, I've taken it on board and I've got an update ready to go once the jam is done.

I didn't manage to get the tags working, but the monster design, and mechanics of movement and keeping a lit torch was really fun. LOVED the "sneaky" walking animation they did. Thank you for uploading and sharing!

Dang, I'd love to try this game in exchange but it seems no matter what version I try windows will flag it as a virus and won't let me download it. From the screenshots it looks pretty cool!

Developer(+1)

weird, sorry you couldn't play it!

I want to agree with the person from the comments: the theme of Egypt is very unique! Cool!

At one point I barely managed to bring the battery and turn on the elevator, and when I turned around I saw a monster a few centimeters away from me. But I survived! Hah :DD

And such a great game!

So glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!

I like that your game has that egypt/pyramid vibe, I think it's the only one in the jam I've seen with this aesthetic. PS: We have the same enemy

Developer

Thanks for playing and commenting.

That's really interesting as I didn't have that vibe in mind at all! I can see what you mean though :-)

As soon as I saw your game listing I knew we had the same enemy, great minds think alike ;-)
