Nice little game to be your first time working with Ren'Py! I generally like to skip text if it seems that I already seen it so the first time loop I accidentally skipped some dialogue (thankfully the text log exists) so I didn't miss anything hehe. I really liked the art and the premise of the time loops but I would have liked to keep the surprise for a little bit longer since the girl already gives a lot of red flags from the first moment she appears but in a sense that's kind of the point. Hopefully you can expand on this story at some point because its pretty interesting.

Thanks! I did run into the issue of: I want to add a false sense of security but at the same time this is openly a yandere game and I don't have much time. But now that I'm reading your comment I'm getting some good ideas. I'm also definitely expanding the story, options and endings. I tried to boil it down as much as possible for the gamejam. :)

Toxic yuri? Sign me up! Fortunately (or unfortunately...?) my willingness to go with her made me survived and got a happily ever after(?)

The looping in the story is pretty seamless and fits the jam's theme perfectly! My only gripe is that I wished Jasper's background of her being trans was touched on in a more cohesive way, such as weaving all of it in with the dialogue between Jasper and Annabell, rather than just an exposition.

But overall I enjoyed it very much!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the loop and the toxic yuri theme! I do have more trans content planned for the full version. :)

YAYY!! I love Ren'Py visual novels and yanderes so this was a treat! Love the time loop idea and how there is seemingly nothing beyond the forest so you really are trapped. Lots of Yuno Gasai vibes, look forward to seeing if you expand on this! I think the script could benefit from some tweaking with spelling and pacing/clarity, and more backgrounds/sprites would be lovely! :]

I'm glad you liked it!

I'm currently working on the full version and Yuno Gasai is a great inspo for facial expressions and violent poses. I took note of the grammar and spelling mistakes part and will improve that for the full game.  I also want to try to give it all a more natural pacing, I tend to be a very direct person and therefore my writing can become too direct as well, so thanks for bringing that up!

About the backgrounds: I am finishing up the sketched backgrounds, besides that I'll also draw some scenes that are described in the dialogue to bring it all a bit more to life!

About the sprites: There are some different expressions and poses planned and I'm currently especially researching facial expressions for Annabell while also working on their characterdesigns again. Jaspers original sketch vibe was more colorful and tired and I feel like both of them lost a bit of personality in the artworks that I quickly made for the gamejam. So I want to go back to the roots so to say for the full game!

(Also because you said that you love yandere games, I have another one in early development (skecthing&writing phase) called the angels shadow! You could say that yandere of the forest is a bit of a practice round for that one!)

Jasper's really cute haha, loved the sprite (and the Annabell with an ax CG). The backgrounds were pretty charming too, loved the hand-drawn look. A grammar tool might shore up some of the writing technicals but the script has a very unique flow to it as is, so, maybe that's just part of the charm.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you like the style! I like the grammar tool idea to check for mistakes, english is not my first language so it would be very helpful for the full version!

Nice short game about time loops (i knew someone would do one eventually lol), would be nice to see more of Jasper, needs a bit more sound to give the world a bit more life, and expressions as well! Can't wait for new content!

Developer

Thanks! With the sound I have to see if I'll do more myself (this is my first time really making music and sounds myself, I recorded everything with my mic and edited some stuff together) or if I team up with someone in the future for that! I'm currently also experimenting with different facial expressions, especially psycho character ones to see what direction I want to take it all! I plan to make a finished version of this in the future. Thank you for your comment. :)

Developer

There are also some scenes planned to specifically show Jaspers past as well as her mental instability as the cycle contiues! I might change her design a bit too beause it doesn't quite fit my vision yet!

Nice game, liked how it instantly got dark the moment one did a wrong decision!

Thanks! I also plan to add more visuals for the bad endings in the finished version! Thanks for your comment. :)
