Super Metroid (1994) is one of my favourite childhood games and the soundtrack by Kenji Yamamoto and Minako Hamano is a real masterpiece. Despite the limitation of the SNES they managed to create a till today unique soundscape of isolation in a dark hostile enviroment. The sounds and themes used in this soundtrack are amazingly well crafted and despite the limitation of the hardware sounding rich and vivid.

This track tries to tribute the beautiful composition of the Super Metroid Soundtrack. To fit the theme New Beginings I heavily focused my tribute piece honring the amazing intro and the main menu theme of the original Soundtrack. All themes used are an original composition by me. Like in the Super Metroid Soundtrack the track starts with synth pads and arpeggios to build a dark and aggitating enviroment. I also added a beep tone in the backround as a signal . After the synth fade out I added pitched percussion to set up for the protagonist main theme. For this theme I took heavily inspiration by the protagonist Samus main theme. Like the original the theme is played by horns and also a triplet initiating the theme rythm wise. Like in the original soundtrack I mainly rely on orchestral sounds to contrast the theme from the synthesizers in the beginning. After the orchestra fades out the main menu tributes starts, underlined by a bass pad and interrupted by sharp synth hit, reffering to a pulse or a heartbeat,envoking the presence of a dark mysterious being. Some plucced synth playing short atonal notes, very similar to the original main menu. In the end I added a choir like synth (the original soundtracks often uses choir like backrounds) ending on this unsettling major chord to create a cold restlessness for the piece.
