Description
DAW: Garageband

.startup - This is like the booting sequence of the character's system / intro scene
.neon - The main theme
TIME. - More intense theme, kind of like a pre battle theme
RUNR. - Short for runner, kind of rhythm oriented, something kinda like Thumper? It's inspired by that.

Message from the artist:
Was not planning to complete and join in the jam, but couldn't hold the urge so here I am. I didn't really have time to polish and complete the tracks tho T^T

Love the mix of synths and chip elements. TIME is my favorite for sure, that rhythm and the crunchy chip sound are a great combination. Great work!

Woow I really enjoyed your tracks ! I especially like .neon with the sound of like a old game, it’s very cute :))) good work for all of your tracks !!!

I really like the the little blip-y noises in .neon. reminds me of picking up a coin in mario or something, really nice and stylized! My personal favorite is either .neon or RUNR. Both really cool tracks, I can't just pick one!

You did this in garage band? That's really impressive! I love the chiptune elements in .neon. Great buildup, too. The burpy synth in RUNR. is hilarious! Neat job creating very distinct atmospheres in each tune.

Track 1 Startup - Sweet pad man! Like the automation on the filter in the opener. Also really like that bandpassed delay you have on the shorter synth stabs that follow. Yeah, neat opening track.

Track 2 Neon - Blip blip blip, oooh nice chords again. Ooh, I like the progression in this. Definitely getting some retro feelings from this. Really like all the rhythmic elements. Those little noise bursts. The blips. Ooooh and now it progressed so naturally into a second melody. Nice!

Track 3 TIME. - The noise makes me think shit's about to go down. Cool beat.

Track 4 RUNR. - Neat vocal effects. Ooh, nice snare. Really like that bass in this.

Favourite: Neon. Just loved the progression and lovely melodies in that one. Was really a standout track for me.

Great work! :)

This is super fun! Impressed that you made four distinct tracks with very different feels to them, and I think each one fits your narrative explanation pretty well!

I really like your melodies, thumpy percussion, and sizzly risers/transitional sounds! The weird formanty/vocal bass sound in RUNR. is extremely weird and a little upsetting in an intriguing and satisfying way, I love it.

The main mixing thing that stands out to me is that the different instruments all feel like they have different reverbs – consolidating them into a reverb send might help make everything sound a little more cohesive and grounded.

I think the lead synth in .startup might also be a little bit too aggressive, a tiny bit of EQ or lowering the volume would help a lot!

Brilliant sound design. The sense of neon sign capacitors discharging into flashes of light in .neon was palpable. The main synth patch in .startup reminded me a lot of the one used by the Chemical Brothers in Star Guitar. :) Some really interesting syncopation in places, and nice rhythmic variation in your lead melodies.

Nice one LR! My favorite was neon. I love the way you take sounds that could be in-game sound effects and repurpose them as rhythmic elements, gives it such a fun gamey sound. Glad you got sucked in :)

Cool tracks! Neon evolved really nicely. This would fit great in a pixel/voxel cyberpunk world!

Also, I need to try garageband. seems great for sketching quick musical ideas or even something more!
