Description
Soundtrack meant to capture a more horror oriented section of a game focused mainly on exploration and adventure.
Death Follower Searching acts similar to the amnesia search music meant to alert the player that there is a danger nearby that they should seek shelter from. Encounter Approach seeks to emulate the tension before a boss fight the player is aware of, such as the opening Bergentruckung from undertale. Graveyard surface is meant to give a demo of the overall feeling of the section of the game during rest time between events. Safeish Puzzle seeks to create conflicting emotion for the player as higher notes draw their attention to a precise and active puzzle while the lower ambience sits in the background ready to return the adventure to the horror genre at a moment's notice.
This submission was largely about actually recording interesting ideas I've been playing on synthesizers and the way they are composed follows this. I experiment with sounds I have until I find one I think is interesting, expand on the idea roughly to the length of a track, and then look for 1 or 2 other sounds with possibly matchable to layer with the original sound. Software used is Traktion Waveform with synthesizers and samplers from Arturia and Native Instruments.

Love that dirty bass with those brassy synths in the first track, totally see where you were going with your mentioning of Amnesia. Overall nice work on this!
Really enjoying the vibes! The sort of saturated/lofi quality on some of the sounds feels to me that this would work great in a ps1 stylistic horror game. A couple hings that stuck out to me on my first listen is that the guitar on "Encounter Approach" might be a bit loud (though this might actually be a good thing in a horror setting) and the guitar like pluck synth sound in "Safeish Puzzle" might fit a bit better with smearing it in reverb a bit (sounded a bit too on top/separate from the rest of the sounds to me). Good stuff!

I think its a unique concept to imagine a bigger game and then commit to one setting within it. It makes me wonder how other areas would sound in that world, creating mystique with their absence.
I quite enjoy the actual sound of the OSt, too. Something about the minimal, sparse instrumentation with the drum beats at times hitting unexpectedly makes me uneasy, in a way that fits the concept. The chosen synthesizers also recall old italian horror scores, and intentionally or not, that always rings my bell. The live instrumentation is also nice, as it adds a a more organic touch and the subtle imperfections that all humanly played music has add a lot to the feeling. Some things could be a tad smoother (like the endings) but good job overall. Curious what else you would do!
This made for an interesting listen, I think. I can appreciate some of the live instrumentation (particularly in Approach) as it helps provide some extra dimension to the track itself. I admittedly dig the minimalistic and intermittent arranging in Graveyard Circus - sometimes a little less results in a lot more, and I think this is a prime example of that concept working well. It sets the tone and leaves just enough space and air for atmosphere to take over. Great underscoring in this one in especially - I think this kind of approach is not used enough.
Good work, and best of luck in the jam!
I don't know if it was intentional but the guitar used in the safeish puzzle cuts out weirdly a lot.
