Description
This soundtrack is a combination of ambiences with a metal track serving as a boss fight for the game. I took a lot of inspiration from Black Mesa's Xen Soundtrack as well as some punk rock and the Metal Hellsinger OST. I imagined the game to be in a style kind of like Devil May Cry.
A being with no name is living in a dying world. Those who remained have tried to find a solution to avoid their impending doom, with no success. The being however can visit a dream world, where it can see almost any desire it wants. Unfortunatley, the only thing the being can bring back from this dream world is knowledge, but when the being finds out the knowledge to cure its world is hidden within, it sets out on a journey to obtain the knowledge and save the real world once and for all, but one can only hope if the knowledge is in fact true...
"Mirage Theme" Both the main theme and intro. The being finds out that knowledge to cure the real world is somewhere in the dream world. The only thing is the knowledge is guarded by a colossal entity known as "Fata Morgana". Combined an ambient synth with a piano sample as well as a hip-hop machine with a low pass filter.
"Reality" The being looks at its world one last time before venturing into the dream world. Nothing but a stale desert as far as the eye can see. Occasionaly you would see someone else, but not before finding hundreds of skeletons belonging to those dying of a dark force lying in their unburied graves. I took a simple guitar sample I recorded myself and layered it with a bunch of synths to give it almost a Half-Life 2/Prey vive.
"Fata Morgana" The knowledge will not obtained without a fight. Fata Morgana is powerful, VERY powerful. Will the being be able to overcome the god-like entity? This is the theme for the final boss fight of the game which will follow with the game's ending... where we never know if the knowledge was true or simply... a mirage? I recycled some synths and the piano from the first song and used what I call a beat machine to make the drums and recorded all the guitar using Amped Roots.

Message from the artist
This is my first OST Jam ever! Can't wait to hear and learn from everyone's submissions!
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I used the concept of the Dream World to fit "Inside My World". The picture especially fits the main theme of the soundtrack, or at least it does whenever I look at it.

Good... The first two tracks are interesting ambient and the third track...
is a groove! It's like I've listened to rock/metal songs from some band that I don't remember very well, but I still want to listen to!
Thanks)

Mirage Theme has a lot of really nice slow melodies and lead tones in it. A thick bass to fill the bottom of the spectrum and some really cool use of pads and drones to set the tone and drench the place in atmosphere. Great opening track.
Reality is cool - the delay line on the guitar progression is neat. The subtle accompaniment behind it growing wider as the track progresses is cool. Similar bass at play here but less prevalent - a good move, I think. Lets the guitar and other elements breathe a bit more without crowding the EQ.
Fate Morgana is great - a nice and chill intro before kicking right into gear with some rhythm. Really like the use of simple guitar melodies here set into the background to provide some texture. Digging the different patterns for rhythm throughout; nice syncopation and variation to prevent fatigue. That small heavy section in the middle was great, I almost wish it went on twice as long honestly. Outro solo was nice; befitting of the track and the urgency at play here. Percussion throughout is solid, does a great job of keeping the track driving forward.
Great work, this was really cool. Good selection of tracks, each very different from one another but still cohesive as a set. Could see this in a couple of different games, I think. Solid work, great arrangements. :)
Fata Morgana is really good! Feels similar to the Hades OST, but also kind of like its own thing, which is cool! I'm a fan of metal game music and yours is no exception. I like the transitions between these in your face heavy riffing and emptier sections where some of the synths shine a little more. I think the constant hi-hat line feels a little too robotic after a while, maybe some humanization or variations on that could help. I also feel like the drums in general could feel more present in the mix. Lastly, I think it's awesome you recorded all the guitar parts, Great job!
I liked Fata Morgana a lot. Really nice guitar it really felt like a video game song to me which I like!
The time has come and so have I...
That last one is perfect for fighting my way through a meme laser eye monster.
Love it, thanks!
It's a really cool submission! I feel like the polish is not 100% equal on all tracks, but it doesn't deter from the nice writing, i love how Mirage embodies the word so well!
Thanks for the feedback!
Hi there ! This is a very surprising submission, I liked your use of theme and leitmotivs, and especially the way the three tracks are very different! Definetely see a game like DMC or metal hellsinger with the last one, and the first tracks that is a bit more ambient :D
Glad you liked it, thanks!
I like the direction this ost went! It would have been cool to have heard a bit of that guitar in the first track to hear a foreshadowing as to what will come, maybe as a light background part of a single phrase. Sounds great!
Love the feedback, thanks!
very cool mix of ambient textures and some shred! I would love to hear your first to songs in a longer and evolved format, because I could hear some great potential there. Also Fata Morgana is a banger. Very nice to hear some guitar that has been truly played. Hats off.
It was bout time I brought the guitar back into a recording, thanks for the feedback!
great work, cool vibe
loved the overall vibe here, from super ambient to heavy rock. last track is super fun!
great work!!
Thank you!
I especially like the intro song, Mirage Theme. Something about its sound design and composition just click in the right way. It's really good.
To give a little critique, I find the last song, although epic, to lack a little polishing. I find the guitars too harsh in places, and at some points even overpowering. At some points, I feel like it is going far from the topic, although that is very personal.
Yeah I wish I had more time to polish it some more but I really appreciate the feedback since I’m kinda new to this type of stuff. Thanks!
Okay, this OST absolutely rocks! I love the ambient vibes of the first two pieces, and the 5+ minute metal track is a vibe that I just want to keep listening to, even though I have plenty of other submissions to rate. The composition is effective, and production is sufficient but there's definitely room for improvement, even just better mastering could make it 10x more relistenable. While the first track does match the picture theme, the OST as a whole does not and I would have recommended sticking to the Inside My World theme. Overall, a great submission that I might just process with Ozone 11 myself so I can loop it for an hour after the jam ends.
Glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback!
