Description
Genre of SoundTrack : A Thriller Adventure game

SonicPi was used to code the sound recursively (Both the DAW and how I compose the sound). In the following blogspot, the source code and the stages can be seen :

The name Sendoff was to represent a game where the protagonist is running away but tells people that they were sent off. Problem with this tale is that the entities that made them runaway are still chasing them.

Lurking in the shadows
no matter the path that you chose
don't know where you belong
but the entitles hunting don't care about right or wrong
Funny thing is, you have not seen what is chasing
and that is what makes the heart keep pacing
the body feels it has to still be escaping
What is it that you have taken
for these beings to be lurking in the shadows

Theme:

Runaway
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
When coding, I realise it sounds creepy as if something is watching you. While being watched, it has faint moments of silence but the creepiness builds up. Recursion is a computer science technique where a function calls upon itself. I relate this to the theme that the sounds from the forest, the journey or cause from the protagonist running away.

Almost as if they are running , it calls for more entities to be hunting and chasing. With every additional runaway and not solving it, it calls upon more and more. This is where the element of code , image and theme come together. WHat if you lied to people around to the reason of the journey and that very lie is causing those around you to not being able to help

I have to admit I did not expect to encounter something quite like this, in the experimental–electronic field, in this jam.

It’d take an ambitious studio to take on music like this for a game, and it’d have to be the right game, but that’s what happened for Martin Stig Anderson in the Limbo soundtrack and that was a triumph.

Very weird, very cool, absolutely unique in this jam. I love it.

So very unsettling and experimental. Love the story provided. And as a programmer myself, I'm a huge fan of the recursive method of generation used!

Developer

Thanks for the words!

I am glad that the recursive method worked so well with this theme. Hoping to try other coding methods for these soundtrack jams.

I enjoyed the sound and vibe! I thought it sounded experimental. It seems like the method to the composition was actually experimental! I appreciated your unique way to approach the music. Very creative!

Developer

Thank you for the words and compliments. Always expect experimental from me!

I really like how this sounds. I love the mix of sounds that come in and out of it. There is a cool rhythm to it and a lot of space that I thought was really cool. It was almost like it was breathing in and out as I was listening to it. Almost alive. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback.  Glad you were able to feel a sense of aliveness with the breathing. I am hoping to expand on that notion of breathing in further mixes of this and see how to make it even more "alive".

Gritty, foreboding. I love the loud, bright sounds. They sound impartial, as a computer ought to be, yet the soft marimba/bell type sounds underneath everything are clearly ominous, reminding you that the passage of time while trapped here is a threat in and of itself.

I get a sense of purgatory rather of runaway or escape. This would be an excellent track within a more varied soundtrack.

Developer

Thanks for the words and I liking how everyone resonates with it, in such a similar but unique way. I am hoping to make a more varied soundtrack with it.

Cool idea for a theme. I think the soundtrack is quite interesting. It does feel like you're stuck in the web of some dark entity, and the textures are quite unnerving. Cool!

I hear that there are some cool vibe like percussive instruments in the back in addition to the very creepy digital sound. I quite like them, but it can be difficult to hear them due to the really bright sounds in the front. Still cool though!

Developer

Thanks for the Comment and words. Glad that you like the creepy and unnerving sounds.

Very bright (in terms of frequency) composition and creepy, lots of bitcrushing. But I would've like to move it a little more 4:28 of almost the same pace for one song, unless its intentional that way for me after 2 mins I get the message. Very unique though

Developer

thanks for your comment and compliment. I was suppose to end more variance to the sound but didn't end up doing it. Next time, I will make sure to do so.

I like the rich theme-structure connection from your description. The generation process is incredibly fascinating! (also bumped programmatic music up high in my list of priorities). Great entry!
