Yay I survived the storm!
I really like the graphic style switch after the first sequence, it caught me off guard and it was a nice surprise.
Maybe a few guidance improvement I would humbly suggest, like a tad more visible floor guidance, especially in the first half where it's really dark and hard to see (I know there's no power but still :p) maybe some faint red lights like an emergency lighting or something?

Otherwise, great work with nice music and graphics and a good narrative force with so few elements.
Well done!

The 16 colour CGA or was it mspaint pallete was specifically used for the play field in the scene where the maitenence guy is playing the handheld game :)

You're not the first person to mention the lack of visiblity earlier on. If I make any addtions to the game post jam I'll probably increase the initial light radius and or do something else to make it easier. The emergency lighting does have a certain appeal though I'm not sure if it would work well performance wise. Still something worth considering if I upload a newer version.

Cheers :)

Very fun game, the puzzles were pretty hard, but definitely doable, good job. :)

Neat concept! I am not a big fan of rail shooters, but I feel like this one was tuned perfectly to my abilities lol! Was a little thrown off when I was thrown into the ship. But the puzzle solving was fun (once I figured out what was going on!)

Some of the gates / puzzles were really good (like being unable to go into the dark until you have a flashlight and needing tools) but others were a bit tricky. I was kinda stuck after I got the knife and just had to click on everything in the dark until I found the vent.

Cheers :) I'm not a fan of space invaders/asteroids either haha. Its kinda like a minigame which takes place in the main game.
Thats given me an idea for a jam game. To make a fun/interesting space invaders/asteroids game :)

Yeah I might have made the main area a bit too large. Some more darkness would make the area smaller until the flashlight is found.

That would help. I had a hard enough time navigating the bedroom with such a small circle of light. I had been thinking it would help if the asteroid guy found the flashlight in his room, though adding darkness would work too. Maybe if you used darkness to cut off everything to the left of his room and found a way to dimly illuminate the kitchen area? Perhaps the fountain glows for some sci-fi reason.

Feel free to discard these thoughts :) I just feel some more light would have really helped me at the beginning.

I currently am stuck after finding that the autodefense computer is not working. No doors open expect the door to the computer and I cannot find anything else. I suspect I am supposed to go to the roof at some point, but have no other ideas. Am enjoying the premise and would like to finish the game.

Developer

I had an idea for a roof area however it didnt make it to the game. Simply interacting with the rungs after the shevling unit is all you need to do to restore power.

In regards to the room with the autodefense computer you already have what you need to bypass it.

The last version I uploaded its too dark left of where the player spawns in the hub and also down by the fountain so exploration is limited to roughly a rectangle prior to finding the torch.

Thank you. I guess I had not gone left at the beginning to notice it was already cut off. Finally found the item that will bypass the broken computer. Had not realized I could cycle through the inventory with the brackets until I glanced at the control instructions after reading your comment. It might help to list the controls in game, or make a note after picking up the second object that you can cycle through the inventory with the bracket keys. Overall, a good game and I enjoyed it. Thank you :)
