  • I like how you connected your story with the challenges; even if you see lots of bugs in the game, it is very responsive to play. I like how the wall jump and grapple are the core mechanics rather than fighting cops. I really believe that this game could be turned into a great story-based platformer game! Now, if we come to the feedback; I would assume, you already know the main bugs and glitches in-game. Either way, I would like to mention some of the bugs: - Collectible health boxes sometimes got pushed away when you try collecting them. (not sure if I wait for a couple of secs before collecting) - Wall grab doesn't work all the time, this is a common problem, it could be because of checking multiple conditions at that time when a player tries to wall grab, make sure to limit your conditions :) - Grappling can lag sometimes and the player would be stuck on the wall. and force in grappling is a little much... These types of errors are something to worry about later, I would like to give ideas rather than tell the bugs! 1. You can improve the game by implementing more platformer obstacles. That way it would be more challenging! 2. Players love achievements! Other than health boxes, try putting small items to collect, or/and place checkpoints to give the "achieved" feeling to the player! 3. Keep levels shorter! It shouldn't be so short, but players will get exhausted to stay on the same level for too long, if it ends soon they will keep trying to pass other levels! It shouldn't be too short either, player can find it a little easy to pass. 4. Game is already so much fun, like most of the big companies do, do not add features more than it needs! I don't want to talk much like I know something lol, but overall I really had fun playing this, and I would like you to continuous improvement!
  • Loved this platformer! The gapling hook physics could be improved but, besides that great game!

really good

In my opinion... This is some game! Great job! Please check out my game!

In my personal project I have struggled making a grapple hook with springs because the force becomes much larger with more distance and it seems the same thing has happened here. I guess you just have to use some calculation to make it consistant. Cool game though!

Developer

That's right, didn't quite have enough time to make it feel the way I intended, so I went for the spring approach.

But I learnt a lot of the experience.

Thanks for your comment!

Nice game!

Who doesn't love a grappling hook? Great work! It was a lot of fun to dodge enemies especially when you could get in a nice flow.

I enjoyed what I played, but was struggling to get the grapple to work sometimes and was unsure how I was killing the enemies. (I played in browser). Really nice sound design. fun

Thank you for the feedback!

Had a lot of fun playing! The first game I play on jam and this is great!

Would like to see further improvements. (left my feedback)

Thanks host!

Nice game! The grapple felt a bit stiff though. I would have been better if it behaved like a rope. It's pretty unpredictable in this state!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I tried my best with the rope! Wish I had more time to polish it more, but it is a game jam after all!

Thank you for the valuable feedback!

Very good indeed. I really liked the music in the game, and the hook mechanic was great. An entertaining game.

Thanks for the feedback!

I immediately looked at the download version, after the description that the web version can lag.

I really liked the rope idea. I felt like a spiderman who ran away from every shot xD

Sounds, music, very good, I liked it.

One problem I've noticed is that it's not possible to immediately pick up health until the animation ends.

And so I liked everything, thanks for the game, good job!

Developer(+1)

Surprisingly the web version works well, so far no one mentioned a problem with the web version.

Thank you for the feedback!

The enemy death animation is great. Love the kind of melting inwards. Very metal. Great music too and grappling is always fun in games. The grappling here was kind of hard to get a hang of, and it was tough to figure out which surfaces could be grappled and which couldn't (like stage 2 start doesn't seem like you can grapple the ceiling and can only grapple ahead of you where the 2 enemies are. Maybe if the stage tiles looked different when you can grapple on things. Good start for sure with some polish on the controls could be cool.

Developer(+1)

we actually did have darker tiles which you couldn't grapple on the other level, and the grapple being hard to handle is a bit of our fault because sometimes the grapple just gets out of control, thanks for the comment!

It's all around ok and i like the level. The character however... Yikes. The player can stick to walls and i can get you in situations where you have to get hit by something to get out, even by a tiny ledge! The grapple is ok but feels more like a launching tool, it just sends me up and can screw you over in many areas if your not careful, not too many but enough. The grapple doesn't even come out most of the time for some reason. Many levels can be cheesed with the grapple as well as the boss. It took me a while to find out what to do in the boss level and can be defeated easily. The health that carries over from level to level is annoying and you might as well kill yourself before continuing.

I do go harsh on games i enjoy so take most of what I said with a grain of salt but here is what affects the game the most:

  • The player - mainly hit boxes (The player is pretty polished though good job)
  • The game type (i didn't mention this but the game feels like a wanna be fast pasted action with slow pasted platformer maybe add simple power-ups like run speed?)
  • The Cheese-ability of the game
  • The grapple (Honestly it could be just me -\_(-_-)_/- )

Well done! really! I liked the physics and the grapling rope. The only thing I would say is that the theme gets a little repetitive too fast and the levels are too difficult, but that's just my noobity haha ncie work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+2)

Impressive game. I think you fall too fast tho', but I had a blast playing it. I really enjoyed the grappling. You could also clamp the falling so it's a bit more manageable to hit hooks airborne. Regardless, great work.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for the feedback!

This was a fun game! I found the grapple mechanic satisfying to use. Although it was quite fast & took some getting used to I think I actually preferred it this way as it makes the game more chaotic (in a good way) and adds to the difficulty. The sound design really adds to the atmosphere, and great work on the pixel art animations as well!

Also excellent work on completing all three optional challenges!

Developer

Thank you! Much appreciated!

This was such a fun game! I got all the way to the end. It was a bit challenging with my track pad but was able to get it to work.  Very polished.  The only thing is, that when I got to the boss I was trapped outside the area the fight was happening - can provide a screenshot if you'd like just let me know.  Overall - very fun game, I cannot believe you made so many levels in such short time!! Well done

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated!

I'm sorry about the bug, that's one we haven't actually encountered during testing.

If it's not too much to ask, I'd like to see the screenshot, thank you again!

Submitted(+1)

The grappling mechanic was a really cool idea! Took me a bit to get used to the controls but other than that was fun to play!

Developer

Thank you very much!
