Very well done, congrats! The overall presentation is super-clean, easy to understand and also fun to look at. Too bad this isn't a category in this jam :) Love how the mechanics rewards a successful move with a bit of story and more knowledge about your enemy. Since the board looks so much like chess, I was afraid to move to a field next to the monster - I wasn't sure if it's going to attack / take my player. Would love to see this game expanded!
Ah thank you! So do I!

This was suuuper well done! I actually ended up enjoying it a lot more than I initially expected to (thought maybe it would be a bit one note). The visuals and mechanics are A++. I really like the idea of these creatures being discovered and researched. I think there's a lot of different directions you could ultimately take this if you wanted to expand upon it. You have a LOT to be proud of!
Thank you for the kind words.
Who knew? Turns out I'm no match for Amorphous Cubus Translucidus? And I was so close to graduating too ;)
Despite having my promising scientific career cut short, I really thought this was an interesting and inventive way to introduce story using a unique mechanic. Although I did manage to get myself in to a loop and wasn't able to access the last set of notes. More than likely user error. The UI is really well done and easy to understand, and well suited for mobile.
As mentioned below, the narrative needs more fleshing out, but overall this has a lot of potential!
This was one of the best games, mechanically, in the jam. Very few other games even tried to get across something about the characters' personality through their mechanics-- there was a lot of IF in this jam. You did something tricky and you executed it beautifully.
I genuinely wish there was a longer narrative here, and I probably would have rated things like 'most compelling character' higher if there was-- I've *done* some mobile game dev and I know how hard it is to get across character interactions in such a tight space.
Thank you for the kind words. I also wish there were more narrative in the game. The drawback of trying to introduce story using mechanics… is that it’s easy to spend more time on the mechanics. Thanks for playing.
