FUN GAME

Submitted

Really amazing game.  If I'm being honest, I feel like I missed out on a bunch of the story because I was busy using the charge shot's recoil to jump around, which was super fun, but it felt like it kinda went against the vibe of the game. That and it felt like it did way too much damage to bosses for how little time you had to charge it.

The visual aesthetics and audio were great, too. Was that Hungarian Dance No. 5 on the second boss?

All in all, a pretty incredible jam game!

Tysm for playing! And yeahh, I sorta agree with the recoil jump thing. With the damage, that's something I adjusted at the last moment to make the game easier and I didn't really have time to get the damage exactly right.

And yeah, that was Hungarian Dance No. 5! My composer ran out of time to do the music for the second level, so I used some classical pieces I had downloaded for another project

I loved the story and the mood overall. Eris feels like such a compelling character and I liked it a lot ! it was a little difficult but not impossible. I fell hahaha in the deep waters, moments after I told me not to hahahah . This is a nice entry with the theme very present and the filters/effects feed well the mood ! Awesome !

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing!

Nice game, as a veteran OSU! player, I felt like the only way to kill the last boss was to grab the mouse in one hand and double smash the left mouse click as fast as I could. I really liked that amount of difficulty.

The story was very appealing, I love sci-fi games. I could feel empathic with the robot and at the same time I was wondering if I would encounter sentient beings as myself.

The charge beam was very good but useless, I thing it makes more bad than good because of the huge recoil.

Liked the visuals, maybe a little too much aberration, but everything else was perfect.

Very nice game!

Thanks so much for playing! I rebalanced the charge shot at the last moment and I agree, it's not super useful in it's current state.

This is a really fun game, really enjoyable. Just the beam made the game enjoyable too. I loved the minialistic color pallette as well!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Very enjoyable submission. Art style gives a sort of Risk of Rain meets Limbo vibe. The controls could definitely use some work - jumps are very floaty, only being able to aim straight left or right feels bad when the bosses can come from angles, crouching would be nice.

this was a really cool game, i enjoyed it a lot. i think the vague storyline was really interesting, and i think you did a great job of making Eris a character to empathize with, despite knowing very little of their character and situation.

the battles were really fun, i had a great time playing :]

Thanks for playing! I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

I had fun playing this! I was a little confused at first that I could move my crosshair all over the screen but could only shoot straight. Ducking would have been a big help, too, especially since Eris has such a big hitbox.

I think there's an interesting story here but I would have liked a little more. Why is Eris' drive failing? Is it because of the storm? Are there any other beings like Eris or are they the only one?

I did like the visual style and the gameplay was fun even though I pretty well suck at these kind of games lol. Overall, great job!

Glad you enjoyed it! And yeahhh the lack of aiming was mostly out of laziness from me, I didn't want to draw the player sprite aiming at different degrees lol.

And yeah I wish I had put more story content in. There's a bit if you click the hard drive icon under the hearts, it brings up a little wiki page that describes some of the game objects and characters. I figured that Eris' drive was probably failing just out of age, but I didn't really think that part through all that much, if I'm being honest. In the wiki thing, it implies that Eris is an Esiine Robotics Polydroid 4 Elite, which suggests that there's more of them out there. The basic enemies have a similar sprite and I intended for them to be a different model of polydroid, but I'm not sure if that really worked. There was also a cut boss fight where you fight another robot of the same model but I had trouble balancing it.

Oh I had no idea about the wiki feature! Will have to play through again and check it out.

"Saturn Prime" was quite the challenge, took me a while to beat it:

Visuals were 5 star - no discussion there and this bossfight alone earned the game another 5 stars in enjoyment department in my eyes - if there was only this bossfight - i would rate it with 5 stars anyways.

Audio felt all over the place to me, i'd preferred if all 3 bosses and levels had the same metal/sci-fi feeling to them.

Controls were quite clunky, left me wanting better.

Plot gave lovecraftian vibes, writing was okay - more or less serviceable, themes the narrative touched hit close to home so i enjoyed it nevertheless.

Thanks for playing! Saturn Prime was a ton of fun for me to design. As for the audio, some things came up for my composer and I had to reuse some old pieces, which is why the musical style is a bit eclectic. I think she did great work on the level 3 music though! With the controls, that's something that I definitely would have worked on if I had more time, I agree that they definitely aren't the greatest.

Absolutely fantastic game, this is!

Solid controls, and shooting the gun at full force feels so satisfying! Which makes it dangerous in the later sections, ahah.

I do love the retro video filters, even if at times it makes it hard to understand how the boss health is doing. The art-style is so good tho, especially the bosses, and the corrupted sequences!

And the was you introduce boss battles with their little cutscene is so cool too!

The story was conveyed well in the short bits, which I appreciate.

Awesome entry!
