Gosh the lighting effects and the art and the pacing are great! I remember you mentioning that the story for this was a continuation of another story you wrote, which explains why it was tough to understand. I definitely liked the way you paced the narrator with the player's progress, as it made for a satisfying reveal at the end!

The choice of music and pacing of the dialogue worked very well together. Great atmosphere and intensity, especially nearing the end!
I couldn't quite understand the story. SPOILERS AHEAD: I saw a dead body next to the sword at the end. Maybe that was a previous hero who unsuccessfully challenged the narrator, but could it have been someone/something else? I dunno.
It's been mentioned but yeah the platforming was a bit janky, namely colliding with edges and jumping on slopes.
Yes, unfortunately, it my first time making a 2D platformer and I need to significantly improve my character controllers.
Glad you liked the music and pacing! :)
SPOILERS AHEAD:
It was supposed to be a sort of a "ghost memory" of the first body whose sword our character picks up, but it was pretty hard to reference that. The dead body is supposed to be our companion on this quest, but our character kills them because our companion is dead-weight. The narrator itself is the demon, who we had set out to defeat.
I finished it an I'll be honest I didn't really know what the hell was going on.
I loved the atmosphere.
Overall I enjoyed the atmosphere, including the music and the lighting effects. It might just be my play style, but I spent a lot of time trying to find alternate routes (thinking the shadows were hiding other paths).
The text and pacing of the story are good, but I think I missed something. It might have just gone over my head, but the truth never became fully clear to me. Still, I enjoyed the concept enough to play through it a second time.
Nice work!
You make points I completely agree with: I wanted to do more with the shadows thingy, but the scope would have been too much and too big for this jam. So, unfortunately, I decided to focus on completing my entry rather than exploring the shadow features.
For the story itself, that's really helpful feedback. I'll keep brevity in my game writing next time.
Thank you so much for the helpful feedback :)
This was a rather novel take on the theme
Really loved the negative effect when entering a shadowy region.
The platforming was a tad bit frustrating at times because the character would keep sliding but it wasn't really that big a deal.
The cliffhanger ending was such a perfect touch it really made the game stand out.
Overall an impactful and memorable game
Omg! i Really like this game!
It reminded me of the game "Blasphemous" Very atmospheric and creatively done!
But I fell down from somewhere xD I'll try to go to the end later
