It's awesome! Looks and plays really nice.

The health mechanic feels close to Blargis game Bloodthief in a sense, unlike his implementation though we die as soon as we get to 0HP.

I wonder though if getting closer to his implementation could make the game even better (personal opinion).

It would be awesome to not automatically die, but still survive at 0HP unless you get hit one last time. Could make for an even more nervous gameplay, and you'd still need to be careful about not missing enemies to not get close to that fatal threshold.

Great execution as it is though, awesome job!!!

Developer(+1)

Oh that is actually a really smart idea, I think I'll test that out and see if I can get that implemented! Thanks for playing :)

My pleasure! It was a really good time, one of the few 5 stars honestly and this one was pretty automatic after 10 seconds of gameplay ahahah

I liked the music very much! Did you compose it? Also mechanics are nice and the Style Choice is Special. 5 Stars from me.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I did not compose the music since I have no skill at making music whatsoever lol. I was going to work with a composer but they kinda just disappeared halfway through so I ended up just finding music online instead.

Submitted(+1)

Ohh thats bad... :/ I was responsible for the music and sounds in our game and it takes a lot of time to compose something nice. But you should never let your team down! Sorry that he / she just left ...

Developer(+1)

Yeah I have a ton of respect for composers and sound effect people because that shit is insanely hard! I don't know what happened with the composer but the early work he showed me was super solid so I think he has a ton of skill, no bad blood between us at all or anything, sometimes life just gets in the way

Amazing game! The concept is genuinely interesting I'd actually love this as a fully realized video game. The art style is also very unique and drew me in quick. The maps and general atmosphere are also engaging. I had to try hard to find a nitpick but if there's anything then maybe a bit more of a defined path on where to continue on. Overall though this one has been one of my faves. Great work!!!

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm definitely considering making it into a full game so that might happen some day soon!

I absolutely love this game! Everything about it is just awesome, especially the theme. This is definitely my favourite interpretation so far. My only nitpick is that the machine gun should take more HP per shot to stop people from continuously shooting without caring

Developer

Thanks so much man! Honestly the part I was most worried about was how people would interpret the theme but I'm really glad you thought it matched. I agree with the machine gun feedback, I initially had it take more health when missing but my single playtester had awful aim so he told me to make it less so I did (should have just told him skill issue though lol)

this is awesome! love the vibe you went fore with the graphics! not sure if this is already implemented but i think bonuses for headshots would really top off the combat, especially since you loose health when you miss i think rewarding the player for the riskier shot would be really cool.

Submitted(+1)

also i liked the difficulty level. it feels like a good balance of having a little challenge but without forcing to replay sections constantly

Developer(+1)

Thanks bro, I really appreciate the feedback and thanks for playing! I could have made it more clear but there is actually a bonus for hitting headshots, it does extra damage and also heals you more than a regular body shot

Submitted(+1)

oh ok awesome! i think if you added a little indicator it would be really neat! keep up the great work :)

Really fun and visually polished game! I appreciate that the machine gun doesn't have a lowered accuracy or anything like that. I really like how the mechanic forces the player to actually be precise which adds a lot to the gameplay

Developer

Thanks for playing! I tried to focus more on the player's skill at aiming rather than with lowered accuracy on the machine gun because I find that to be kind of annoying in games

Hi! I've played the full game and had quite a bit of fun! The mechanics feel really fun and the different enemies were fun to encounter and fight against! I loveeeed the music and the sound effects, really well chosen!
I did notice you can get out of bounds on the map without dying (see screenshot). I had to wander around quite a bit to find a point where it would kill me and reset me. Also, the game doesn't tell you that holding right click will zoom in, but you did make that as a feature! So now you're missing out on cool credits for mechanics you did make, but didn't tell the player about :)

Thanks for making it tho! Was fun!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! I appreciate the feedback, there are definitely quite a few places on the map that you can just walk out of bounds basically so I probably should have but up a few more kill zones lol. There is an option to load the last save if you press escape in case you get to a point where you are fully stuck. Thanks again for playing and I'll check out your game now :)

Looks great! What game engine do you use and how do you achieve the pixleated effect on your enemies

Developer

Thank you! I used Unreal Engine 5.4 and I used the plugin "Anim to Sprite" to pixelize the enemies!
