The intro cutscene is amazing! The cards are really well drawn.
Not a huge fan of the distracting AI background.
Thank you for playing, and we appreciate the feedback.
Really fun little game, simple to play but with the progressive difficulty it remained a challenge. Music and art were good, and the intro cutscene was a great addition especially in the time span!
Thanks, it certainly helps having team mates to bounce off and share the work. Glad you enjoyed it!
The graphics are incredible, I just thought there was a lack of more mechanics. Game with a lot of potential.
Thank you! We aimed to keep it relatively simple to prevent any last-minute rush due to complexity. The confidence gained from “finishing” this one will add to our ambition for the next one :)
Notes from gameplay:
- Nice music, though it's a bit too repetitive. Making it a few bars longer would make it feel less samey-same. There's also one beat which feels like it slurs a bit too slowly.
- Great font choice. I like the flash on "press space to begin"
- Great cut scenes!
- Unsure what the mechanics are meant to be. Replaying.
- Figured it out - I thought at first that one of the sprites being shown was my own character.
- Is there a penalty to missing shots? Is there a penalty/bonus to doing multiple shots at once? Edit: seems so
Fun concept, though I'm not sure how intuitive it feels. The right half of the keyboard isn't one people tend to feel as comfortable blind-typing with. Overall presentation was fun and cohesive, with a nice little story framing the gameplay.
Thanks for taking us through your thought process, this is really insightful feedback. I’m glad to hear that some of the questions were answered with subsequent plays. An in-game tutorial was our goal and it’s a tricky thing to achieve so we’ll keep at it for future games that suit it. Noted about the music as well, much appreciated!
It's a fun game and unique concept, though I'm not sure how to feel about the use of AI. I've seen from some other comments that this game was far from 100% AI, so I'm not going to let it factor into my rating too much.
Thanks for the feedback and we appreciate the extra consideration in the rating process. 🙏
I really enjoyed the gameplay (got 6th place, but the boss defeated me easily). The artwork for the enemies looks cool, but I didn't like the AI-generated background
6th place is nothing to sneeze at and fair enough, that’s valuable feedback :)
Loved the intro ! Concept is cool, music is good! Gameplay is simple but works well. Great job!
Thanks for playing and for your kind words!
nice done! also the game is progressive. love the fact that the letters disappears after. One thing: not everyone has a qwerty keyboard 😂
Thanks for playing our game! it was tough to find the right difficulty as another commenter stated they would have preferred the letters remain. If we had more time we would have added a difficulty setting where you could customise your experience, but I'm glad you enjoyed it the way it was!
We also discussed keyboard layouts and based on the time we had to keep it as QWERTY based. I'm hope if you were using another keyboard it still played ok!
A respectable 8th place overall for my run, I really like this game. The initial presentation is awesome, the art stunning. One thing I don't know if you can achieve would be to scan the local system and display the letters that correspond to the player's keyboard, taking into account the physical key press and the actual key value could differ between languages.
Also, really cool way to do combat. I rate this 5/5
8th place is very respectable indeed!
We did briefly speak about keyboard layout when we started this project, and it's definitely something that could be implemented for a range of keyboard layouts.
Thanks for your feedback and your positivity!
Honestly I dont really care about the AI, But the background is kinda meh generated. Im sure you could have use a better model/promt for it. It brings down the really good art of the aliens. img2img/inpainting would be a nice tool if you wanted a specific layout.
The game itself was very good, though. I would like if it didnt blur out the keys, since there is no added difficulty to that. Its just confusing for the sake of it. The keys just add more clarity to the gameplay, leave them there.
I enjoyed it a lot anyways!
That's really great feedback. Definitely noted. The difficulty is something we spoke about in depth and this particular point came up a couple of times so thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.
Also thanks for the AI tips and the positive feedback on the aliens. I've been getting a lot more into art and like everyone been checking out some AI tools for inspiration so I appreciate the recommendations.
I have mixed feelings about this entry, the background is clearly Ai generated so I'm not sure what isn't Ai art (including the intro), maybe you could detail what is and isn't Ai to help rate? c:
Hey man good question, and thanks for asking before rating. The background, the image of the cowboy walking into the bar, and the 'death-screen' (leaderboard screen) are AI-gen, however, the cards and every other asset have been hand drawn and animated (on Procreate) using a few references from both image searches and AI. The intro, the boss cutscene, and the final cutscene are all hand drawn, and animated using Procreate and Final Cut.
The music is all originally composed using assets from Splice and put together using Logic Pro.
The background was just a placeholder at first then kinda just got forgotten about.
We also used chatgpt to generate the basis for the description then edited it.
I hope this helps you rate our game. Thank you for playing it!
Thanks for clarifying!
