Such a cool idea, it turns out im terrible at this but I still had fun regardless haha, the game doesn’t look like it would be too scary from the onset but when I turned the corner and found the big monster I came to realise I was doomed lol

Really love the designs of all the characters, the sfx provides a nice ambience which really sets the tone. Awesome work! 😸

I did it(I Won :D)! The game was super nice! I really enjoyed the gameplay! I like how the fishes are the ones catching us this time.
The polish that is there is really good. I wish there was abit more polish though. (like flickering lights, grime, an abient creepy tune)

It was really confusing to know how to finish the game but after getting it it's a really fun game! maybe adding some kind of a guide to show the players how to do everything would be nice:D

one of my personal favorites from this jam! the concept reminded me of The Battle for Wesnoth a little bit, it took me a few tries to understand the better tactic but the gameplay is fun and encourages you to try new things! The atmosphere was really on point as well : the UI and animation are smooth too.  Good job on the game !

I really enjoyed the action points system, figuring out strategies to have blue guys stick together and search out in groups rather than go off one by one was pretty fun. I do wish the enemy fish had some sort of indicator so you wouldn't have to remember how many hits are remaining to kill them. Overall was a good time :D

pretty cool game and nice concept! I some fun while playing your game :)

I really loved the gameplay you created. thought it was  unique and well-executed. It was challenging but didn't feel impossible, and definitely highly replayable to wanting to try different strategies to survive longer. Your sound design worked with the movement super well, I think you could even expand on the darkness/unknown/creepy theme by adding some quiet horror music in the background, I think that could be a quick add that would bring high value to the overall vibe of the game. Nice job :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I am curious if you got a good example of horror music you had in mind would be a good reference!

thanks again for playing and the kind words!

Sure! I was thinking of some eerie background music - not necessarily song-like if that makes sense, almost more like a sound effect? Not quite sure how to describe it or what genre that is. Something like the music Deeper's entry used: https://iamsul.itch.io/deeper

This game's concept is amazing! I really enjoyed my time playing it, like someone else said it, this is the one of the few games that are turn based! I like the fact that you can look around and it feels very smooth, being able to only see what's ahead of you when you go near it also really neat.

Great work on this game! :D

Edit: Oreos dipped in pudding?!

Developer(+1)

Oreos dipped in pudding is a nice treat, vanilla pudding specifically hehe.

Thank you so much for the praise! and thank you for playing!

Only one of my guys survived, but hey, I got the loot. Very fun, I like how you can only see the surroundings of your characters

Developer(+1)

You got the loot and thats all that matters hehe, I am glad you found it fun!

Thanks for playing

Nice atmosphere, got swarmed by 4 fish when I only had 2 guys left :( it plays nice, I like how you can try different strategies

Developer

Dang that's an unfortunate way to go heh.

Thanks for playing!

This is a super interesting concept and I really like the information-gathering strategic elements, I feel like complex turn-based games are relatively rare in game jam environments. I do think the map felt a little large, as even after exploring very long stretches of emptiness, there was no sign of an exit. Really cool game!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I can definitely see why they are rare haha, its hard to fit in the amount of content that feels right.

I see what you mean about the map size, its not super densely populated with anything so it can feel even more empty in that sense. THanks for the feedback!

I felt compelled to group all of my guys together at once to have them as safe as possible. Perhaps a score by moves taken counter/leaderboard would help remedy this in a larger release, but as it stands its fun and definitely has a great little vibe goin on. I dig

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I did kind of think about something like that with the (basically functionless) time tracker.

That's a good strategy for safety, but I could see it might be more tedious when all units are all together

Nice game! It reminded me of the flash game where you're trying to catch a cat by playing tiles except in this game you're the cat :)

Developer(+1)

oo that sounds very neat, I'll have to look into what flash game that was. Thanks for playing!

I think he means this? https://trap-thecat.com/

Really nice idea! Only tip I'd have to give is to decrease the health of the enemies, even with all your people together its hard to get through a few fights.

Developer

ah good call, it's definetly on the higher side.

The intent was to deinsentivise combat a little bit. But might have gone to far in that direction haha.

Thanks for playing
