I like the atmosphere, the landscapes and sounds are pleasant. The character animations and sound are pleasant. Some complaints:

  • Are you supposed to be able to jump? I saw this mentioned in another comment but nowhere on the game page describing the input.
  • The character idle is about as energetic as movement.
  • Movement seems weirdly slippery for a character that looks like it should have great traction.
  • After falling in the pit with a smiling fish monster, it is very easy to fall off the world. Is there any way out of here?
  • The environments are pretty, but it can be very hard to tell where I'm supposed to be able to go, e.g. what steps are shallow enough to slide up, especially on the other side of the cave where everything looks like steps.
  • Echoing some earlier notes: there aren't clear instructions or progress, the counter seems meaningless, and the landscape often blocks the camera.

Some bugs:

  • Got caught in a corner here
  • Respawn happens twice after a fall
  • If I press E before a message has shown fully, it will eventually end the dialog but I can't move. I need to reenter the dialog and go through all of it.
  • At one point the walk cycle wouldn't play if moving up or down
  • Character becomes invisible near the waterfall

It'd be cool to see this developed further!

Good:

  • A really mysterious, interesting world. I seem to be some kind of stitchpunk creature, but all the NPCs are statues? They all talk in a strange, cryptic way, and the music is eerie. It all creates an intriguing atmosphere.
  • The art-style is really nice. There seem to be a few shader bugs, but overall it looks really good, and felt like a really fun place to explore.
  • The use of verticality was really good. You built a level that really felt like it made good use of 3D. I liked how the river flowed over the top, then down the waterfall.

Bad:

  • I have no idea what I'm doing... The invisible transition to "zone A" says I need to earn everybody's respect, but I've searched very thoroughly, and I could only find three NPCs to speak to.
  • The camera is often blocked by walls. Understandable in a game jam, but the fact that falling off the world seems to completely reset my progress makes it really punishing. I want to explore, but if I wander around blindly, I might get reset.
  • The dialog system is a little glitchy. If I press to speed up the text reveal, it just does the same line again. Plus, whatever the number in the top-right corner is (I'm assuming spirit essence?) it seems to go up if I hear the same line again. I got up to 1050, but that still didn't open the other zone.

Overall, I think the aesthetics of this entry are great. It's a strange, mysterious world, and it looks and sounds lovely. I'm not really getting the game element though. There doesn't seem to be much I can do, and there's very little guidance on what I should be trying to do.

This game looks pretty neat with an interesting world but I struggled with the lack of direction and slow movement. I also fell off the edge twice and got soft-locked in a corner once.

I managed to collect 400 points, then I fell down and found a terrifying fish wrapped around a ball, then I fell down again into the void because I didn't know where to go. The assets look really great in this game, and I can tell you didn't have enough time to implement everything you want for this game, I'll be keeping an eye on this game if you do decide to expand upon it.

Hi, impressive drawings and modellings, you have make lot of work to make a very good camera movement. One little bug diagonal movemenent make a strange animation like he change animation every frame. (i play with gamepad) good job.

Hello! I was a bit confused about what I needed to do next on this one. I noticed talking to the NPCs gave you points, which should be used to unlock different areas, but I got lost very fast (and ended up falling in an abyss and dying)

I really like the character and the golems, and the UI is pretty. The transitions are neat as well. The movement was a little floaty and slow, but my main issue was really understanding where to go and what to do.

After some time I started trying different things and I figured out you can do a very small hop by pressing space, then I explored the world map a little bit. Please let me know if there's a walkthrough or if I'm missing something.

Thank you very much for experiencing this game! My first priority was making and implementing the assets since it'll take a while for the actual gameplay to code. It's supposed to be when you gain a lot or certain number of spirit essence, a new area will open, a tiny change on the scenery, and or updates new dialogue lines for the NPCs. 

I'm glad you loved the visuals I made and Beefy was in charge of the golems.  The player movement is like that to reflect its origins and early stages of being thrown into the world. 

A not-so-secret note; The player is like a sea slug and the world makes it look like they are insignificant, slow and floaty... Until you've gained abilities.

Again, with the lack of time to implement, you'll understand where to go or what to do when you almost cleared the interesting areas you find yourself; and or depending on the interaction you've made

We very much appreciated you have played it longer and were encouraged to do your own stuff! You haven't missed anything as we only made 1 scene so far
