Great entry, real tight controls, simple but effective design. Platforming was difficult at times but fair overall. Would benefit greatly from checkpoints. Loved the music

Really fun, short and sweet. That is a very responsive character controller you have on your hands. Those were some really tight jumps but they were easily managed. I was also genuinely surprised when I got the box pushing ability, I thought for sure it was going to be double jump (although looking at the environment, I guess I should have guessed). Great job!

Some feedback:

- Some of the jumps were a little cruel, like running off the platform before being able to double jump over a long row of spikes.

- An option to look downwards would also be nice, some of the landings needed to be calculated while falling.

- It's probably been said, but health pick-ups or a continue point after double jump would have been nice since that's where the game's difficulty really starts ramping up.

- The box pushing wasn't really used outside of one or two instances. It's a cool ability, so more puzzles built around it would have been a welcome addition.

Overall I had a fun time, this was really well done and I think proves to me that a short game with solid mechanics can be really entertaining.

Very polished game. Controls and movements were super tight and it looks really nice. Only small downside would be difficulty. If it was 10-15% less difficult or if there were checkpoints, it would be perfect. I did finish it though ! I had 1hp left and was sweating but I did it :)

Great work !

Too cool O.o I love the  art and your level-design, I dead a tons of times :| I need a checkpoint :( GG!

Challenging but incredibly satisfying! The platforming controls felt perfectly tuned. Even when sections were difficult, I immediately knew what I was doing wrong and what to adjust so I felt like I was learning as I was playing. As for some feedback:

  • Checkpoints would've been nice. While the difficulty is part of the appeal, it would've been nice to get to replay right after unlocking a new ability instead of restarting from the beginning.

Another thing I really enjoyed was the music! It felt very Castlevania and made the experience even more enjoyable.

★ Enjoyment: 4/5

I had fun, but it was too punishing for me.

★ Design: 5/5

Good level design, definitely not an impossible challenge.

★ Presentation: 5/5

The sprites, the maps, and the musics are all great

★ Metroidvania: 4/5

Technically yes, but not much exploring

Good:

  • Lovely presentation. The art is charming, and all works together very well.
  • I really enjoyed some of the jumping puzzles. Getting to the double jump was fun!
  • The controls tutorial was inspired! I love that there's a practice room (although it's a little confusing that it tells you the attack button, but you can't use it).

Bad:

  • I understand that you maybe didn't have time for a checkpoint system, but letting me keep my upgrades when I died, or putting in some way to heal damage, would make it much less frustrating. I don't feel like permadeath is a good fit for Metroidvanias.
  • It felt very linear. I never had to backtrack more than a couple of rooms, and never really had to think about it. To my mind, the main appeal of a Metroidvania is exploration, and there wasn't really any of that (at least as far as I saw).

Overall, I really like the feel of the game, and wish I could play more of it, but there are only so many times I'm willing to replay from the beginning.

Hi thank you for you comment, after reflexion you have say a very good idea, if player die he did lose his power but he restart for the begining, i didn’t make checkpoint because i use lot of time to try to make cool level design but finally they are not lot of level.

The core mechanics are so well implemented in this game. Movement feels great and it's so much fun to dash about... As a homebrew engine it is stunning that it feels and plays so great! Love to see a larger game made with it!

The music is superb.

Good character movement and combat flow. Level designs are good too, Like the idea when the character moves the box to go the way up
