Did you work in a team?
Just me.

Was the resolution a challenge?
The resolution wasn't a huge challenge. I decided early on to make a game with large character sprites so that I could get as much detail as possible.

What did you learn?
This is the first jam I've successfully submitted a game to, and it helped me experience working on games under a deadline.

Really nice art and gameplay, there's some bugs like when the dodge disables :,( but it's fun to play! I only really wish that I could continue from last level.

You can start from the 2nd boss by holding the 1 key when you press Enter, and you can start from the last boss by holding 2, as it says on the itch page. I'm glad you like it tho

i have reach the third (maybe the final boss?), so many time but each time i about to defeat him i was put into this state where the player cannot dodge at all. strafe still working just fine but the dodge just refuse to work all together. i don't know what cause this but it the only thing stopping me from completing this game. this problem can sometime happen before that as well although less frequent.
it definitely a charming game for sure, shame i can't beat it.

I came across that bug too. It's super annoying, I wish I knew what was causing it!

Beautiful art and animations. I hate that if the enemy blocks your attack, you take damage. I want my power fantasy mommy! Otherwise the gameplay feels great, sometimes I don't strafe because I hit the dodge button for 10ms too long, but that's minor.

This game would really be great with some music and tweaked controls! And don't make the enemies damage you when they block!

The  characters are great, and the art / audio is very fitting. For being mostly on a black background, you managed to put a lot of feel into this game. It is quite hard, though. Having to start over if you lose makes progress very hard to make. I want to beat this game, but I don't know if I'm good enough to do it XD

But grats on a really solid game!

Thanks for the kind words. Here's a tip: If you want to skip to the second or third bosses, hold 1 or 2 on the title screen when you hit Enter.

I was too busy playing, and the game seemed to teach me everything I needed to play (that's a good thing)... Didn't read down that far. Still getting my butt kicked, but not having to fight through the first 2 is letting me press onward. I will defeat this game.

good luck

We had been following your development on Twitter, and were very excited to finally give this game a try!

The graphics and audio are absolutely fantastic. Everything from the way the demons look down to the way the audio sounds when displaying text is very well crafted.

That being said, this game is blisteringly hard. It reminds us very much of Teleroboxer on the Virtual Boy, and shares it's difficulty. It feels like the player may be losing too much health whenever a demon blocks their punch. If you don't utilize the demons tells, and punch wildly, you will die extremely quickly. It ends up feeling a bit more like a puzzle fighter, which is a tad... strange. Especially with how good it feels to uppercut a zombie.

Either way, fantastic work!

Thanks for the compliments. I did fear that maybe it'd be too hard for people, but it's hard to tell that kind of thing yourself because it's always easier when you're the one making it. Maybe it's easier if you know that dodging and counterattacking immediately afterwards is the key to getting lots of hits in? Plus knowing exactly how many punches you can get in after each dodge. Who knows.

As for it being a puzzle fighter, that was partially the goal. Figuring out the right way to attack is part of the fun of Punch-Out!!, for me anyways.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
