Beautiful illustrations, they all have a lot of personality. I like your decision to keep it monochrome except for the front and back. I also like that you included useful information on the front and back.
It was helpful having separate sections for the NPCs and items rather than just in the descriptions of where they're found - I'm impressed you were able to accomplish that within the page limit with nothing feeling crowded!
The NPCs were all well described and I like their varied WANTS. I also really liked the Alchemy potions and the relic instruments , especially the Drum of Wind Control - if I gave the drums to players I think I would cut the ability to create a wind wall, the jumping ability is already powerful and interesting.
I liked the setting presented and the culture presented has a wonderful depth. I thought it was awesome you took inspiration from a more under-represented people with a rich history. I definitely appreciated your intended message, but it was a bit jarring to read "Sensitivity is important when portraying cultures other than your own—fictitious or not. Consider: What does this character want, why are they doing what they’re doing, and what makes them unique?" followed immediately by the next section "Colonialists range from misguided fools with white savior complexes (Dexter Treadwell) to aggressors without respect for local customs (Hailey Corbett)."
All in all, I think it would be an interesting scenario for players to explore. Thank you for taking the time to add links to important topics so they were clickable to jump through the document too!
Thank you so much for your considered feedback! I agree with you about the jarring-ness of that section. Another editing pass probably would have seen the "Colonialists" bit softened and brought more in line with what I was trying to accomplish. Alas, I managed to submit five minutes before the deadline. Version 1.1 will do better!
Thank you for writing and sharing the adventure! I struggled with the deadline too and you really released a tremendous work.
Love this. Very intersting to read. I like the npc info and the setting is just so cool. I'd up the contrast on the pink pages though for readability.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I definitely plan to do something about those pink pages in an updated version coming after the jam.
I imagine Hailett Corbet being like Bob Peck in Jurassic Park and saying, "Clever girl" when the Owl Bear sneaks up on her (well maybe "Clever boy" in this case since the owl bear is male haha). It's cool seeing a break from traditional gaming tropes but wrapped around a familiar creature we all know and love. I would love to play this. Also, you're excellent at giving people, items, and creatures great names! Very original and creative!
P.S. Can I pretend my cheese cave gets its yak milk from Doi Gaew? :D
Haha, yes absolutely—there are some important trade routes between Doi Gaew and the Cave of Coagulation!
Very good. Inspired scenario. Great hook. Certainly useable. I honestly think the coloured pages subtract: bit of a pain to print, and also make it more difficult to actually read.
Thank you! And thanks for the feedback about the colored pages—definitely plan on doing something about that in the inevitable version 1.1, haha.
What a great setting choice for a hexcrawl! Plus the possible interactions with the god, the shrines, and the relic instruments make the whole thing a potentially very fun playground for a session or two.
What a great sandbox! I could see groups going down really different paths with this adventure. The art and vibes are really amazing too.
The flavor and tone makes "Owlbear" stick out from the bunch while being the only entry I've read based on a classic monster. The layout is very pleasant!
This module has so many great ideas. You sparked my interest with the Owlbear theme but your original setting of Murraya kept me hooked. A Thailand inspired fantasy setting is such a wonderful idea!
So much great stuff happening on just page 4 alone providing for a great background. And I agree that the additional firearms and trap mechanics are a great supplement. And last but not least: love the handdrawn art style as well :)
Really great job with this mini-hexcrawl You suprised me a lot!
I love the firearm mechanics. Even though I like the color pallet, it did make the first page a bit rough to read. Really cool to see an adventure that's exclusively hex based.
Thanks for the feedback—I'll touch those colors up in the inevitable version 1.1 (where I also fix all of my typos, haha)
Nice to see a Thai adventure! Thanks for making this!
