Hey! I wanted to reach out. Not sure if you saw my post, but jpfuzzerton won the raffle! You both won a copy of Swords 'n Magic and Stuff!
Please reach out to me on Discord (Janna#2424) or email (janna@kindredgames.net) for info on how to get your prize.
Hi jannamoon! That's so exciting! Thanks for the message - we didn't see your update about the raffle. I'll reach out shortly on discord.
Super cute game! This was very unique and fun to play! Loved the stickers, that was pretty cool. The lack of air control when jumping made me rage more than it should have probably lol, game is a little bit too hard maybe but other than that it was really impressive!! Awesome game. :)
Thank you! Glad you liked it :) And yes, I know what you mean about the air control feedback. I’ve never done wall jumping before this jam and it did not mesh well with my air control at all. If I had more time, I could’ve made both mechanics work together, but had to pick between the 2 to get it working.. went with wall jumping. Sorry it made you rage a couple times! Happy to hear you still enjoyed the game despite my frustrating movement mechanics 😅
Thanks for this feedback! Glad you liked the stickers! I think the jumping issues were likely a mix of mechanics and mesh issues we had. Definitely something to work on for the next game.
Nice game! I love the name and the concept of how you fit it into the theme! The memory stickers were a nice, meaningful collectible that helped the progression of the story. I had some difficulty with some wall jumps here and there, but just minor polish really. Really liked the music. Really nice game!
Thanks so much for the kind review! Appreciate the wall jump feedback, I agree the mechanics could use more polish for sure. Also glad you enjoyed the stickers and music. We had plans to add more, but ran out of time. Thanks again for playing!
Thanks for this feedback, Incanta Games! I wanted to do a little more with the depth of the story that we presented, but had to keep it really high level with the stickers - we didn't want to make the player sit through a long intro and didn't have a ton of room in the dialog box. I'm glad you still found it useful in progressing the story line.
Regarding the wall jumps, yes, that was a learning experience for us. The more I played it, the more I'm thinking maybe the walls needed a little more friction feel to them? Either way, really appreciate this feedback - it'll help us improve for next time!
This was a really cute game, loved the little love story. Collecting all the stickers was fun since I wanted to read the little memory dialogs. Enjoyed the platforming mechanics aside from a couple small complaints about the movement feeling odd. The wall jumps seemed a bit unpredictable and hard to do right, and I found myself stuck in the platforms you had to crouch to get down a few times if I didn't hold the button long enough. It's definitely great for what it is, really great work. Jealous my game wasn't this cute :)
Hey! Thanks for the kind words and great feedback. I definitely struggle a bit with making gravity feel good. I went for less floaty, but it probably adds downward force at an odd rate, making the wall jump and drop speed ramping sort of chaotic. I know what you mean about it feeling unpredictable. Like you mentioned on your game, I play tested so much that it became hard to feel how new players experienced it. As far as the cuteness goes, that was pretty much all my wife (jpfuzzerton). I did the SFX and music, but the cute art and story was 100% her. That’s awesome you got all the stickers! Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks ddrosler for playing and reviewing our game! We really wanted to put more into the story depth, but we didn't prioritize it high enough and it got rushed at the last minute. We're going to be more serious about story boarding for our next jam.
And I want to take a little responsibility for wacking out the jumping mechanics. Tutmo initially designed the levels to be flat boxes as platforms. Then, I decided to rework them to be more beveled on the edge (a weak attempt at creating a more organic rock-type look). After that, the colliders didn't seem to fit right any more because all of the platforms had varying levels of curved edge. This was another great lesson for us, and next time we'll get the art direction in place BEFORE the preliminary level design.
Really appreciate all of your feedback and I look forward to trying out your game!
