I think this could easily be the #1. Maybe you won't make it because of the lack of juiciness. The gameplay felt like...a real game. Marvelous work.
What!? That's... crazy to hear somebody say. You are too sweet. This is only the third game I've ever succesfully made, and I feel it is my weakest. You've completely turned my mood around this morning, even though I think you are completely wrong. Thank you.
No MIDI controller, but I did manage to get 180. I think I played something similar in some nintendo game as a kid. I remember the way it looked but not what it was called...
Wow! I'm impressed! You managed to beat my personal high score of 165! Big props on that one.
Is it possible you played puzzle bobble/bust-a-move as a kid? That was a big inspiration for this game, at least.
I don't think I played either of these. I thought it was some Mario Party bonus game, but I can't find it in the wiki - alternatively, it was something on the Nintendo DS.
Either way it was sort of the inverse: Colored balls dropped in from outside into a mass of balls in the center, that you could rotate. If matching colors touched they'd dissolve and grant points.
Like the concept!
Collision detection was not sensitive enough, so in many cases I expected triplets to react but they didn't, especially at the beginning.
My highest score was 117! Forget the rotation part, think a match-3 game using physics is a fantastic idea! Sometimes I'd be a couple degrees off on my shot and the animal would slowly spiral away from its herd lol. Really neat innovation and cute visuals. Thanks for sharing!
I didn't get out my midi keyboard, but I still had fun. Great execution.
Cool idea! Maybe the distance detection for group of 3 could be a bit more permissive, many times I did group of 3 but they were not registered
Yeah, totally. This is the number 1 feedback I've been getting among my friends, too. The obvious excuse of: "if only I had more time to playtest!" definitely applies. Truth is: very fair point that was totally on my list of things to polish and I ignored it for way too long.
I do in fact have many MIDI devices in my blob cave
Awesome! Did the controls work for you? I was only able to test on my old keyboard and my Novation. Both worked, but harware gonna hardware.
I cleared my desk to not get distracted for the jam, so I played without a MIDI controller :D but will test as soon as I set my toys back up!
Ah yes. Wise decision.
