Really nice looking, creepy fun game with a horrible claustrophobic fell. Love the spiders, great job, thanks for taking part
Definitely played on the fears with this one. Wasn't a lover of the sounds in the caves but that just heightened the experience I suppose. Jumped more than I probably should with the spiders. Good job.
Great character models. Did feel quite tense at times when crouching.
Nice work really enjoyed it (although did get a little motion sick)
The spiders and sound effects were wonderful! Very creepy vibe in this game! There were issues for me, though. Before I mention them, I’m running Linux and not sure if the issue is Linux or in general. I know Unity and Linux are on questionable terms at times. That said…
Looking around was definitely disorienting. Took me a minute before I realized the camera was not ~rotating~ around a point, but rather orbiting a point just a little in front of my view. Not sure if that’s a bug, but it made the game feel a little harder to control… perhaps that was the point?
Walking through the tunnels, I explored along the walls at the edges of the large open areas and I noticed that I was quite often (more so than not) clipping through the walls. I wasn’t falling off the map, or anything, but clipping through them quite a bit. So were the spiders for that matter. I think the first spider I encountered attacked me through a wall.
This is more a nitpick, but, is the green glowy thing health or poison? The green fog I get from interacting with it gives me a feeling like I just picked up poison, but, I can’t tell.
I wish there was a little more feedback (sound effect maybe) for when I hit a spider. Initially I wasn’t even sure if the stick I had was actually hitting them.
Neat backstory for the game, but… I’m not sure if it added anything. Other than being in the creepy basement (by the way, awesome ambient audio in that basement) it really didn’t play into the rest of the game (as far as I could tell with how far I managed to get).
Over all, though, very cool game! The doll was very creepy (was it supposed to be moving?) and I also though the swaying of the stick was kinda neat! Excellent work!
Yeah, I ran out of time with aligning the colliders up with the cave walls. That led to a lot of unpleasant clipping in the caves with the player and the enemies. There was a bit of an issue with the character controller too that I was trying to sort out. It had to do with the physics engine wreaking havoc on my non-physics based movement I was applying to the character. The green glow of the mushrooms is a health add. It was red at first and changed it to green to kind of give the idea it was a good thing. I know that green is associated with poison though. Didn't think of it at the time since it was like 2AM when I did it Maybe should have gone with white?
Honestly jumped at the spider. Creepy, creepy sounds.
I also jumped at the first spider...
That's what I was going for. That spider is an ambush spider. There are 4 of them in the level. They sit in hiding and wait for you to get close enough and pounce without warning!
