Theme interpretation
The grand idea was to make the vikings pursue the Fuse-o-mancer, who created hideous mutants (like Vulture-Wasps!). Since this is my first game project ever, the poorly drawn Vulture-Wasps are pretty much all I can offer^^ Also Vikings! In Space! Some wild fusion going on, eh?
Players Notice
I hesitated on submitting the project at all, since there's pretty much a minute of gameplay. But since it's my first project, I'm actually pretty satisfied with what I managed to make in limited time, and also would be thankful for any feedback
Development Software
Godot engine v4.6.2.stable.official [71f334935]
Aseprite for drawing
Accessibility
Controls are pretty minimal, but there are alternative ways to move (WASD or arrows) and attack (Spacebar or Mouse1)

I love the theme! PS. My first game was much, much worse than this. (never submitted it to anywhere).
Thanks for the kind words antja :)
haha really interesting game idea, i found that if you stay at a little before the right edge of screen, its really easy to run over the vultures that way, i found axe throwing a little slow and they had gravity for some reason?
also is there a way to skip the death screen? i didnt find any button so i just restarted the game itself,
overall really awesome entry for a first game, good job!
Thanks, Radint!
I was toying with axes trajectory, and decided I like this one. It's actually a spiral with a pretty big arc, but looks like gravity, I agree.
The death screen is supposed to be skipped on any key press (goes back to the main menu), and for me it does work, just checked. Although you have to wait until the "you died" screen fully shows up. Or did you mean skipping the death animation and screen altogether? I'll probably add a restart button to the menu.
Actually a really fun jam game! I totally agree with what Quinten said that this game truly had that game jam vibe to it, that's what makes the games the most enjoyable to play during jams! I loved the concept and visuals, I stand united with you for making a bullet hell game! Music was great, slightly loud, but really was perfect for the vibe you were going for!
Couple things I would note as quick improvements that make a whole lot of difference:
- Would have looved to have a fullscreen support. Very quick to implement in Godot through the project settings.
- Would have also loved some sort of audio settings/input rebind settings. Allows for more players to enjoy your game to their liking.
- Finally, some of the small rocks were very similar darkness to the background of the game making them hard to identify. Adding a little more contrast to them would have made it extremely hepful!
Overall, great first entry!
Thanks, Torchic!
Yeaaahhh, the full screen is a must have. For some reason I thought Godot takes care of this on its own, and found out it doesn't a bit too late. Well, now I know x)
By audio settings you mean separate SFX/Music sliders or something else? There is a master volume slider, I thought it would suffice for a jam.
Totally agree on the rocks part, but it was too low on priority list, so I never got to fix this.
It's actually not a bad game, especially it's your first one. My first one ever was bad, haha.
I like that there are music, sound effects and visual effects, even if it's still a bit sparse. I like it that you can actually attack all the obstacles and projectiles.
There's a bug where even when after you kill the boss and it's animating towards the center screen, if you have one health left and you hit something, you can lose the game.
I guess a lot of things in this game doesn't make sense because why would the axes curve downward like there's gravity if it's in space haha. But everything in the game is silly anyway so why not haha.
Thanks, Lestavol!
Heck, that bug still crawled into the release, I thought I fixed it. There was another one, that made you invincible after death in a new run, I must've broken the first fix when working on this one. Oh well. Thanks for pointing it out!
Yeah, it was totally designed to not make much sense. My original idea was to introduce a wizard of sorts, that would ruin the vikings' evening and flee into space, and the vikings would start rowing on water gaining speed, and then they would just fly into space, and the first level would start. The idea was to show how silly everything is overall and how badass the vikings are. But I was struggling with the most basic things at first, so I had to drop the idea, since I couldn't pull it off. Making the level 2 scene served as a kind of mental redemption for myself.
P.S.: Your game is so polished. I suck at it though, but it almost felt like a steam release. Something for me to aspire to.
Haha, thank you for the kind words. I think the color palette did a lot of the heavy lifting for the game (and it's totally not me who came up with it lol).
It's very kind of you to say it's almost Steam-worthy but I think I can confidently say it's nowhere near that level😂 But I was able to improve a lot since last year I went really hard at joining and doing a tons of game jams. Also don't be afraid to team up with other people. This one was a solo project but I also just did one jam with a team that I think was a much more polished experience. You can check it out here if you're interested.
Good job on your first entry! I think as someone with little to no experience, this is already a pretty good entry. The game functions nicely, playing out as intended, with a boss fight and an end screen too! Not too shabby at all. The game is simple yet reasonably enjoyable, for sure would need some polish, but overall, this is already nicely done. The length is alright for a jam game (don't be like me making a game jam game needing 4 hours to complete), so don't worry about it too much.

Suggestions:
Thanks, Kelvin! I totally agree with all the suggestions, these are all either my to-do's I couldn't implement in time or things I wasn't aware of like the sizing issue. I only followed a tutorial from GDquest before the jam (link for occasional interested readers), toyed a bit with platforming on my own, and dived right into the jam to have a clear goal and work through all the steps in limited time. So as I was learning, things were getting clearer and easier. The level 2 idea came to me the night before deadline, and I pulled an all-nighter to realize it. Then I also noticed how much better it came out to be than level 1, but it was already an hour or so to the deadline. So basically it's a product of the learning process - a few days of struggling with basics, then one night of feeling almighty and giving my all. I was also learning to draw along the way. Here, have my prototype vikings and a wasp as a souvenir, haha

P.S.: Loved your game! Spaceships, nightmarish organisms, and the touch that your loss is actually a win for humanity (or some other race) that fights the infection.
Amazing for a first time jam entry! Well done and hope you found my live feedback useful!
Thanks, Quinten! The feedback was more than I'd hoped for. And I had great time on the stream overall, very nice and welcoming community!
The second level was my favorite.
Nice Shmup game. I was getting used to the player's arch projectile. The theme interpretation idea seems similar to mine.
Tbh I like it the most as well😁 In the beginning making anything work was really hard, but as my understanding grew, I found I could implement ideas more quickly and easily. And in the end what I planned to be an apologetic kind of ending became prettier than the actual game 😅Well, I learned a lot and had fun, so it was worth it already, but hearing somebody likes something I did as well means a lot to me, thank you!
I liked your game a lot btw. Felt like mini Sekiro, one of my favorites so far 🔥
