good
Nah actually really neat concept. I think with a bit more polish this could be a fun way to waste some time. Unfortunate control scheme though hahaha
Thank you for playing. I’ll change the controls after the game jam. When I was testing the game, I didn’t realize that these keyboard shortcuts could be an issue.
OMG ctrl+d ending too! ヽ(^o^)丿
Got the ctrl+w ending (/◕ヮ◕)/
Like others have said, the beginning is a bit confusing. But once I figured out where to go, I thought it was pretty interesting. Random generation is always difficult and I applaud you for doing what you did with it in the time you had. With some tweaks, I could see this game's mechanic being really cool as a bigger game! Good job.
Thank you for playing. The part that took me the most time was indeed the random generation. I’ll try to implement the suggestions after the game jam ends.
I’m a bat y’all! I like the idea a lot, the RNG totally hates me though and the highest I could get was 227. Making enemies drop blood might be a cool way to help give the player a chance to get further up.
Thank you for the review, that’s a really good suggestion. I’ll try to implement it after the game jam.
Fun game, I kept pressing ctrl+w though :P
Thank you for playing. I completely overlooked the Ctrl+W shortcut during my testing.
once i figured out i was supposed to go up, it was a fun and engaging game! it was interesting trying to fly in the most optimal path to not waste blood, and to try to find more blood potions! with some more direction at the start, this would be a super fun game right from the start. solid game!
Thank you for the review!
I agree with other posters - I think the core game and mechanics can be fun and make sense. The highest I went to was 115 because that was the highest you could go with the potions, but I couldn't find anything else. Witha bit of refinement, I figure this could be a solid platformer.
Thank you for playing. I really messed up by leaving so much empty space in the initial area, and I should increase the initial blood level. By the way, if you use the double jump and then transform, you can go further.
Nice visuals, however it's very difficult to tell where to go, and could use at least 1 visual que( a sign, an enemy coming from above, particle effects ANYTHING) to tell us that the level is above. I think you need to have a preset area that is always the same for the spot upwards of the player instead of randomly generated. Because sometimes you have big walls which you don't have enough time to fly around, or sometimes it's completely barren, and I just lose.
For anyone not knowing what to do:
-Grab the 2 bottles
-Become a bat
-Fly upwards until you find something
-If you don't find anything upwards, restart until you do
Thanks for the review! Honestly, I spent much less time than I should testing the initial area compared to the rest of the game. I really should make the game’s objectives clearer from the start, and I focused too much on the random generation . Only in the initial area I left a larger gap between the areas with enemies, also I should have set it to start with a higher blood value. A tip that might help is that since you can transform freely, you can use the double jump to start from a higher position, which saves a lot of blood.
The random generation is a big coding feat I think, I could still find repeatedly the same platform patterns after playing for a while, but still, I think it's impressive. Yeah I used double jump to save blood, it's a good trick. The high blood value at the start would be much appreciated!
Cool idea, but I'm not sure it's working? I never saw any enemies, and I'm assuming the game was going to be about killing enemies as you fly and trying to get as high as possible. If so, again, very cool idea, but I wish it worked.
Thank you for the review. I probably left too much empty space between the initial area and the rest of the game because I didn’t want some enemies to start moving towards the player right away. If you flew around the map and couldn't reach a any area, you can after collecting the two blood bottles you use the double jump and transform in the air to save blood and then fly straight up until you find it.
