  • This game is a superb entry - my personal favorite so far. I would probably consider adding more gameplay mechanics and I would love to play a full game from this universe. Congratulations to the team!

This game has honestly been eating at me, no pun intended. I have been going through every different ending, and yet none of them is feels completely satisfying. Don't get me wrong, this game is definitely a one-of-a-kind experience that proves how beautiful visual novels can be. I was immediately absorbed by the dialogue, the music, and the sound effects that jump out at you. Maybe it's kind of silly to hope for a  happier ending, but I'll keep trying. So far the "head-in-a-bag" ending is my favorite :) Thanks for making it, this game is a work of art, and a thoughtful and exciting one at that!

aw that's so sweet. I'm sorry there's not many endings in this jam version (I have to admit i had to cut some ideas to be in time). The "head-in-a-bag" is definetely the "happiest". Thank you for playing, and writing this comment :)

Funny and well done game. I almost felt like zombie. I still feel hungry :)

I'm not a big fan of visual novels or zombies, but I have to say your graphics are very good! I think it was lacking a bit in terms of sound design. It would have been nice to hear some ambient sounds like flies and wind to make it more immersive.

Developer

hey,  guess what, I am not a big fan of zombies neither. I can't watch a zombie movie or play zombies games because it's terrifying me (I did give L4D a try though, my friends had a very good time hearing me scream every now and then). Anyway, thanks for your feedback, it's most welcome.

it was a very fun game with nice artwork and a good sound track.  it would be a fun story to be bigger

Developer(+1)

Hey, thank you for giving your thoughts, it means a lot.  Yeah, I too wish it was bigger... maybe it will be ;)

I think this project is awesome. I love the aesthetics and the story has blown my mind. Great work!

PS: Now I understand the title, hehehe.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yep, the title must be read in a very litteral way :p

This game definitely had consequences for your actions, I liked that about your game. It made each choice meaningful. Trying not to eat the girl led me down some interesting routes. This short adventure definitely quite the meaningful one.

Developer

Very happy you liked it.! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

The soundtrack in the beginning is just spellbinding. The questions asked about our Z about its place in the world is also thought provoking. The undeniable brilliant part about this game, is the graphics and the visual narrative it gently lays down. Really enjoyed the experience.

Thank you, the team is very touched by your comment :)

A total mindstorm, this game was obviously made by pros who know what they do ;) Special thanks to the guys of nova-box who did an awesome job as usual (please check their other games on their itchio page if you never heard of them before), but also other nice surprises: I discovered the great art of Melanie Ertaud through this game and the existence of Fungus plugin for Unity. The music and sound design are working well, the texts and atmosphere were well rendered. There is a very good setting. Of course for my first try I did the wrong choice and ate the girl, but that's part of the fun in Visual Novels, you never know what will happen! I just don't know exactly what myth or legend it refers to regarding the irrelevancy to the theme of Icehouse Jam (myth of the Undeads?), but it's not very important compared to the quality of this work: the whole game, in the way it is narrated, constructs its own legend replica after replica, and that's what makes it so successful.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! You're right about the theme, we thought undead/zombies was in the Myth&Legend category. Anyway... we still had a lot of fun. Thanks for this Jam, I'm sure we are not the only ones who had fun here :)

HostSubmitted

Well if you had fun it's the most important then! :)

Uh ... Should we express the obviousness of the excellence of this game, since playing a few seconds is already enough to grasp its full strength? The VN gameplay makes this title a captivating interactive comic, with breathtaking graphics and a very original storyline. The choices are astute, the reflections full of humor, and we appreciate the characters very quickly. Superb experience !

Developer

Thank you so much. We (team) are very glad you liked the game, it's really good to hear :)

That was great! The art style in itself could carry the game, but the story adds so much more to it. I really enjoyed this one. Also a question: is there a "good" ending? I tried it few times and always the ending seemed more on the gloomy side.

Developer (3 edits)

Thanks :) Yep I totally agree with you about the art style, I feel lucky to have the opportunity to work with such a talented artist. About a "good" ending, Well... I'd say yes, as the writer, there is one I consider happier than the others. I admit it's not obviously happy though.

HostSubmitted(+1)

I don't know which one you consider "good" but I liked the one with the head in a bag!

Developer(+1)

Haha! yep, it's this one.
